Who I am and why I am doing this...
Hello, my name is Eddie and I live in San Francisco. If you don't already know me, you should  know that am a very visually driven person who is inspired by all things playful and whimsical. I believe in making things from scratch and that when you are missing a cup of sugar, you can always ask your neighbor for some. They will benefit from a sweet reward after all, and I will always return the favor.

Several years ago I came up with the idea to make a cupcake hat for myself as a costume.  I told my best friend about my idea and in a struck of luck on a walking excursion, we found the base of the original hat in a box of free stuff. I love being able to repurpose things and give them a new value in life.  

I did not anticipated the reaction my original cupcake hat would have. Every time I wore it, people would smile and many would stop to ask where they could get one. Walking down the street, people will even roll their windows down to call me "cupcake." 

That inspired me to go into my cupcake hat making adventures in search of the right ingredients for my cupcakes. I found all the right pieces and it resulted in ONE-OF-A-KIND creations that are each individually painted, numbered, curated with sprinkles and toppers, with a certificate of authenticity, and even a list of nutritional facts. Some of them even make noises and music. They are all very special to me. I promise you that the main ingredient in each of them is a lot of love.

Why KIckstarter?
Sadly, the manufacturer for the base of my hats stopped production and now I need to start making my own, as I have a very limited amount. I don't see this a bad thing at all, but as an opportunity for greater greater artistic control.

As you can imagine, manufacturing a plastic cup in the shape of a cupcake is no easy task. It takes figuring out digital 3D CAD files and then understanding the process of plastic injection. But thanks to organizations that help designers how to DO IT YOURSELF, the process is now possible for artists like myself. 

These hats are truly made with love and all my creativity and I feel it is my duty to share the joy that these hats bring to those who will become their fateful owners.

With your support I will be able to continue my adventures in making my Cupcake Hats as well as many of my other whimsical creations. I hope you will support my efforts and enjoy my creations.
