A short film about a down-and-out guy who tries to form a legacy by getting a word in the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
Hey everyone, my name is Daniel Robbins and I type on the behalf of myself, Mikey 'Looch' Gelfand and Mark Rapaport. We are three 20-year-old college students who love making videos. Particularly comedy videos.
If you are over the age of Bar Mitzvah, by all means check out our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/RobRobbinsReels
I am currently taking film classes at NYU and do not view making these sometimes-hilarious videos as a mere hobby. We all take filmmaking very seriously and intend on making a career out of it.
As much fun as we have making these videos, we would not make them unless you, yes, you reading this, watched them and shared your feedback (positive or negative). While laughing at our own videos is enjoyable and fulfilling, knowing that we bring this enjoyment to others is significantly more rewarding.
To take our passion to the next step, we are going to make, with your help, a short film that will be submitted to a number of film festivals (Sundance included). The reason we have not attempted to make a short film until now is because we do not have the resources to fund one ourselves, and would not feel comfortable asking others for funds until we know we can deliver on a superb final product. We finally believe we are at that stage.
The 16-page script is complete and ready to be filmed -- the story was birthed by Mikey and the script was written by Daniel. We are in talks with a few cinematographers and have all the actors lined up (Mikey, Mark and 7 others).
The story is a comedy about a down-and-out guy, Quink Smith, who suddenly becomes inspired to form a legacy. After reviewing his short list of talents, Quink boldly decides that his indelible legacy is going to be getting a word in the dictionary. The rest of the film chronicles his hilarious failures and successes. I'm hesitant to say any more than that because the people reading this are the people we most want to see it with fresh eyes.
Since we will direct and edit the film, the funds would be spent on the cinematographer, audio mixer, equipment and actors, aside from Mikey and Mark. Any overflow funds would be spent on the many festival submissions. For your contribution, you can receive a DVD with tons of fun special features, an IMDB credit, a signed script, or even a producer credit.
Whether you do or don't help fund the film, you can help in other ways by either sending this link to a friend, or by liking our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/RobRobbinsReels
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and for your continued support.
