Raising money to fund a Sci-Fi UCLA MFA short film directed by a broke Mexican visionary. (Sci-Fi ain't cheap, and we're going big!)
The purpose of the project is to create a socially relevant short film that pushes the boundary of modern film conventions while communicating the importance of human interaction.
In the screenplay, the main character, Gerson, has narrowly escaped a failed International Space Agency mission. Thought to be dead with the rest of the crew, he is the sole survivor. We meet Gerson 3 years into his 8 year journey home. Confined to small space that is his escape pod, and no way of communicating with Earth, Gerson’s only interactions are with the pod’s caring, yet nagging Artificial Intelligence mechanism, Xie Xie. Over the years they have developed a personal relation and have fallen in love.
We have a renowned set builder signed on to create the escape pod on a UCLA sound stage. We are scheduled to shoot for 4 days, and have a top notch cast and crew in place.
In order to ensure successful production and completion, we need extra funding for special effects personnel, catering, raw film stock and processing, post-production costs, transportation and wardrobe.
