boom! is headed to Santa Cruz, Boulder, and New York to perform our work. Help us raise funds so we can travel the country
We are boom! theater company, a company of eleven performing artists who create invigorating and uncommon work. For the past three years we have performed over 20 company created new works in the Seattle area including ROAR, Repeat.Repeat, Taphonomy, boatcanoetubfloaty, trenches, A NET and many more. Here are some recent words about our work:
... the resultant carnage is among the most visceral and gory displays I’ve ever seen on a stage, blood spilling across most of the performance space, leaving most of the characters either dead or dying. It’s affecting and disturbing as it is unexpected and earned. -- John Allis, Seattle Star, May 2012 for boatcanoetubfloaty
The show is rewarding like a kaleidoscope is—watching it can be confusing and dull at times, but you can sense an underlying logic, and see occasional gorgeousness, in its moving parts. -- Brendan Kiley, The Stranger, October 2011 for Repeat.Repeat.
Boom!... created a truly harrowing gallows comedy out of whole cloth while ACT squandered an established gallows-comedy masterpiece. -- Brendan Kiley, The Stranger, October 2010 for Taphonomy
Right now, boom! has been accepted to three different Fringe Festivals in Santa Cruz, CA, Boulder, CO, and New York, NY that all take place between July and August. Obviously this would be an undertaking if we were performing one show in three locations but we are performing THREE different shows in THREE different cities, it's going to be a real hoot.
That said, traveling across the country, gas, lodging, rehearsal rooms, not to mention our rent for our space in Seattle, all cost money and we are going to need a lot of it for all this to happen. Over the past few years we have asked our fans for help and they have given so much more than we could ever imagine and are so thankful to have you all with us. But the time has come where we need your help and generosity once again so please, please, please donate a few bucks to us on our Kickstarter so you can get an awesome prize and support boom! and our work. Also, check out our other fundraising events taking place over the next few weeks in case you want to keep on giving(and partying). Thank you so much Seattle and beyond. boom! loves you.
