Developer SDK availability
We were going to make a milestone at $2mm, but you guys beat us to it.
The Software Development Kit (SDK) will be available to EVERYONE before Pebble ships. We're also building a simulator so developers can test their applications even before they receive their watch.
Don't worry, HACKER SPECIAL backers...you're still getting your prototype units in August. This announcement just means that more and more apps will be available for Pebble the moment that the main batch starts to ship!
To learn more about the development capabilities of Pebble, you can follow the dev blog.
We're also working on some other cool announcements for the remainder of the 35 days! Man...that sounds like a long time, but I know it will go by quickly.

Now that your funding has gone through the roof, is there any chance you could also make it WebOS compatible? Some of us still love our Palm/HP phones/tablets
Creator Stephen on April 15, 2012
"Don't worry, HACKER SPECIAL backers...you're stilldoes getting your prototype units in August."
Does this mean we'll get two, the prototype and the one in September.
Creator Ethan Illfelder on April 14, 2012
If possible can you guys be so kind as to let us know how much user suggestions matter at this point? Can the body or feature set change if we raise more money? are you still willing to make real changes to the watch... just asking because but not making this clear you are opening up a lot of people to some disappointment . There seems to be an overwhelming support for some key feature adjustments- If you could at the very least address them it might make people expectations fall in line with reality.
Creator Wesley Swain on April 14, 2012
Chris, once the Funding Deadline passes You can choose the color

what are the voters choice colors and when wil be able to vote?
Creator Caleb Young on April 14, 2012
Is there a possibility for an ereader app for this?
Creator Dan Gerharz on April 14, 2012
Arthur, have you tried the "manage your pledge" button on this very page?
Creator Kelvin Tong on April 14, 2012
Wow...I think you have hit a milestone or something for the number of backers. I believe you have the most number of backers already in Kickstarter history for Design category, and you still have a "few" days to go :) Glad that I can say I am backer no.8 for your project. Haha...
Creator Arthur Grandovskis on April 14, 2012
Umm one problem I forgot to add international shipping cost, how do I go about rectifying this error? I cant see any options of amending the amount. please help :(
Creator nuthinking on April 14, 2012
Clever, and appreciated, move! ;)
How many millions do you do you need to add BT4? :)
Creator Laird Popkin on April 14, 2012
Yay! Can yu tell us a bit more about the SDK? What language/framework does the pebble run? What are the runtime resources available? Etc. lots of questions. Very excited!
Creator David Silverkors on April 14, 2012
Support for more languages is what I ask most for. For example, I am swedish and would be very happy if the pebble would have support for showing time etc in swedish :)
Creator Emanuele Staccidentro Gelati on April 14, 2012
Will be it in italian too?
Creator Don Kim on April 14, 2012
THIS PROJECT IS SUPER AWESOME. Just like everyone's dream is coming true.
Because of you guys, people are throwing so many ideas that can do with Pebble. So stunning.
Creator Bram Beirens on April 14, 2012
I'm already requesting a 'notes' app :)
So you can show your notes on your watch such as your to do list.
Creator Martin on April 14, 2012
How about writing apps to connect with your Win/Mac Computer?
It would be awesome to:
- control the volume
- switch slides in a presentation
- play/pause your video/music
and so on...
just with your watch :-)
Creator Vasant Nath on April 14, 2012
All the best from Mumbai, India. You guys have inspired me and a lot of my friends. Your victories are seeming like my victories! It's awesome how you've pulled it off. I wish everyone who works sincerely at an idea they believe in can experience what you guys are experiencing.
Happy to be a backer. Very excited about wearing my Pebble!
Creator ENRIQUE GARCIA on April 14, 2012
I'm thinking in a conection with tomtom. Driving a bike with tomtom in your pocket and having a vibrating alarm when a speed radar is near will be great!!!!!
Creator Jo Poy on April 14, 2012
Awesome guys! I'm another Wloo P.Eng in rainy Vancouver & I am stoked to see our grads doing so well! And making a product I am thrilled to buy! I bought a Tik Tok LunaTik nano watch here - but pined for more "sync" with my iPhone. My pining is over - well it will be in September ;)
Creator Darryl Kang on April 14, 2012
If I'm not mistaken, the most funded Kickstarter project is the Double Fine Adventure at $3,336,371. Looks like you guys are on the way to breaking that record. Keep up the good work!
Creator Conner T on April 14, 2012
Holy crap that's awesome. You guys ROCK
Creator D4rKlar on April 14, 2012
At 3 million let's have the watch powered by a miniature Arc reactor.
Creator A. D. on April 14, 2012
Just saw it :-). Sry. You guys rock. Can't wait...
Creator Matthew Parlane on April 14, 2012
It has a backlight.
Creator A. D. on April 14, 2012
How about a light? Simelar as the GlowLight on the new eBook reader Nook Simple touch?
Creator Zac Rodriguez on April 14, 2012
So for us that can not code (yet), would it be possible to add "If/then" rules?
For example? "If there is an incoming call and you shake your wrist, then call is denied and sent to voicemail"
Oh one could only dream.
Creator Leonard Low on April 14, 2012
@ian douglas - wow, spot on, inductive charging would make this unit absolutely killer. :)
Creator Mark A. Donohoe on April 14, 2012
Color is neat (i have three of their inPulse watches) but the ePaper is so much more beneficial, especially if they can get the performance like they're showing in the vid. I'm impressed!!
Creator Alex Prescott on April 14, 2012
No definitely stick with the e-paper black and white display, the 7 day battery life is exactly what a smart watch needs. An LCD screen would immediately cut that to maybe a day, plus you couldn't keep the screen on.
Creator Matthew Parlane on April 14, 2012
mark the whole reason it's black n white is to save power.
Creator mark reinhoudt on April 14, 2012
how about a full color screen? (or is this something that would make the phone immediately twice the price?)
Creator Bas Bruurs on April 14, 2012
@ian: No idea. But the SDK is based on GCC toolchain. Check out the blog (http://getpebble.com/blog/2012/04/10/pebble-sdk/)
Creator ian douglas on April 14, 2012
The idea for inductive charging would be awesome, you could completely do away with the usb port completely, then you wouldn't even have to worry about proprietary plugs.
Creator ian douglas on April 14, 2012
Any chance the SDK will be out BEFORE the August units ship to the hacker pledges? I'd love to get a head start without having to wait for a physical unit, especially if you're working on a great emulator. Also, what environment will the SDK be? C++? Java? Other?
I'm also curious which real-time OS is running on the device. (my first job out of college was working with QNX)
Creator velango on April 14, 2012
Do you plane to support Windows 8/Windows phone 8 in the future? :) Is it technically possible ?
Creator Bas Bruurs on April 13, 2012
I hope all apps will be open source so we can inspect and steal code for our own custom apps.
Creator Shany on April 13, 2012
Will we be able to develop and sell pebble apps?
Creator Charles Bocock on April 13, 2012
You gotta do inductive charging.
Creator Seth on April 13, 2012
guess its time to put down visual studio and pick up xcode for a little while.
Creator Binoy Xavier Joy on April 13, 2012
Indeed a great news. Thanks for the SDK :)
Creator Bas Bruurs on April 13, 2012
Why not Chris. It's not like David has anything else going on in his life (besides getting drunk) right now :P
Creator Chris on April 13, 2012
No. To go with the theme all pebbles will be personally delivered by David hasselhoff.
Creator Eric Thornburg on April 13, 2012
When is your IPO, I want in...
Creator PorchSong on April 13, 2012
Are these apps going to be free? Or is there going to be a Pebble app store?
Creator Douglas Bailey on April 13, 2012
I think you should announce your 3M milestone now because otherwise you will miss it again?
Creator Bas Bruurs on April 13, 2012
I have been waiting for this update all day. (it's 5:13 here in the Netherlands now)
Awesome guys, simply awesome. Next milestone everyone gets free shipping? :P
Creator frank martinez jr on April 13, 2012
Any chance of a WYSIG to make our own watch faces?
Creator Brock Hughes Bender on April 13, 2012
