I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this project possible. On Monday we exceeded our goal of 5K and made it to $6002! It proves to me that even in such financially challenging times we still have not lost our desire for art that helps us remember and honor who we are and where we come from. Thank you so much for making this first iteration of Homo File possible. You have helped make my dream a reality and I am very proud of the work we have created. Audiences and press have been very enthusiastic about the work.
Rob Avila of the SF Bay Guardian said today that although it is only a work in progress "...[Homo File] sports a formidable narrative arc and aesthetic vision...The 30-odd minutes of material on display delivers a strong sense of this fascinating figure (played by Ned Brauer, with occasional and evocative recourse to some aerial straps). Meanwhile, Eisen and his winning cast place Steward in a mise-en-scène equally as promiscuous, ranging over dramatic scenes, aerial acrobatics, shadow puppetry, and even a hilariously lewd application of the old teacher's standby, the overhead projector."
An audience member said, "I saw homo file on Friday. I've seen lots of folks try and put together multimedia performances and quite frankly fail because each medium is so separate to the whole. yours actually integrated each medium brilliantly for a real cohesive show."
Another said, "I'm combing my memory for all the images you provided us and it's kind of ridiculous! You covered so much with so much invention and surprise. I could see this show again and look forward to it. And I am not someone who normally sees things twice.Tech was seamless. The direction was very refined. You have made something really gorgeous. And you know what an honest and ruthless audience member I am."
And here are a couple of articles from our local press:
Thank you again for your support. We have 4 more shows to go and then I will be in touch to get information about where to send your thank you gifts.
With smiles and heart-filled gratitude,
