Project Description When We Ruled H-Town - Documentary exploring the unforgettable 1990's Houston Music Scene

With the ascension of “alternative” subculture into the mainstream in the 1990’s, Houston, Texas experienced a correlative infusion of energy and talent into its local music industry. What could arguably be the plateau in the rise of activity and business for local bands, clubs, promoters, and press provided exposure and opportunity for H-town to become a formidable contender with Dallas and Austin as a mecca in Texas music. In as many as eight and as few as five years H-town would see its best talent rise and diminish, clubs overflow capacity and ultimately close their doors, throngs of fans disappear into thin air left with memories to last, experiences never to be matched.

Through the interviews of those who made the scene, in photos and video of the unbelievable shows, and by hunting down the places and the pubs where this scene was lived , an unforgettable time in Houston Music can live forever.

With this film we can survey only a fraction of the talent that found it's outlet on stages and limited edition recordings, in art and lifestyle, and ask what made those times special?

We can explore the questions, was it enough to put Houston on the Texas music map? Why or why not did we need to? If the local music industry and scene has declined or digressed, or at least changed, in what ways and where is it going?

When We Ruled H-Town takes an objective but nostalgic look at a not-so-distant past when a spark of energy, a deep pool of creativity, and insatiable curiosity brought musicians, artists, fans, and an entire city together for a brief moment of greatness.

Currently We are already deep in production. We are still conducting more interviews and planning a big reunion show with a advanced screening of the documentary.

Funding We are looking for funding to complete this project by purchasing a MAC to finish the editing(my current MAC is out of date and slow), DVD duplication, Promotions, and Production costs. Rewards will be released when project is complete.
