Wow, everyone. THANK YOU… THANK YOU! Your response has been amazing, and we’re on track for a really successful campaign!

It has been a pleasure exchanging messages with people, and I am floored by the nice things many of you have said.

Here’s an update:

Your response isn’t just making me jump up and down with joy. It has also opened important options for sourcing the last components I need, particularly the pocketing.

You probably saw the picture of the pocketing design. My consultant and I have been working on sourcing the material and printing for weeks. Keep in mind, my guy is someone who ran textile departments, and entire couture lines that use everything from nylon to silk. If it was wool or satin, we’d have it tomorrow… but anything that is different is harder to come by, and few people make pocketing out of polyester.

 

Below is an inside peek at the apparel world. This is the cost for the pocketing only, and I’m sharing because you might be interested.

At a low volume, I could buy material and digitally print the pocketing:

  • 1,500 pairs for $6,750.
  • That’s $4.50 per pair, cost of pocketing only.

At the same low volume, if I wanted to use sustainable inks to digitally print the pocketing:

  • 1,500 pairs for $9,750.
  • That’s $6.50 per pair, cost of pocketing only.
  • Ouch! But, we all know it would be the right thing to do.

At a higher volume, I can buy material and rotary print the pocketing using a completely sustainable process:

  • 5,000 pairs for $8,800.
  • That’s $1.76 per pair, cost of pocketing only.
  • Because in this scenario I have to buy 2,000 yards of material but will only print 1,000 yards, it includes surplus material for another 5,000 pairs later (5 pairs per yard).

Granted, I’ve only sold 100 pairs so far, and 5,000 pairs is a long way off. But your enthusiastic response is already helping me gauge the overall demand for Bluffs, and see that committing to pocketing I use for the Kickstarter campaign or beyond might be an acceptable outlay.

Overall, it will be a better product, thanks to you.
