Prospective: A Journal of Speculation hopes to provide a place for quality speculative fiction in both prose and poetry.
The journal will be published quarterly, and will be a paper and staple print publication.
Our first issue is to be titled "Werewolves and Other Bitches". Ideally, all of the writing contained within the chapbook will follow this theme, however, each writer is free to interpret the theme as they see fit.
We will have an open submission for one month two months prior to the publication of the magazine. For instance, "Werewolves..." will have an open submission from January 5- February 5, 2012, and the magazine will be released on March 15th. We hope to notify all authors of their acceptance in the magazine by February 15th. This same cycle will be upheld for the June, September, and December magazines.
FAQ

Historical fiction, fantasy, science fiction, horror, etc. Anything that speculates a reality or conditions that break the world as we know it.
Everybody knows there is no such thing as werewolves...or is there? I'm just kidding, or maybe I'm not? I'm just speculating.
Have you ever wondered what the world would have been like if Sarah Palin was president? If you put that into a story or a poem, then you have created a work of speculative fiction. And, let's face it, if McCain/Palin won the election in 2008, you know she would have killed him within the first three months.
That's basically speculative fiction in a nutshell.

Absolutely, frankly, I think it's awesome, you show support for a project, and it's a good faith pledge. We all spend more than that on a drip coffee at Starbucks. Hell that's what I tip on a caramel apple cider. It doesn't make you look like a cheap bastard, it makes you look like a caring individual who took the time to pledge a dollar. Also, if you want to make a pledge but don't want the SWAG, you can pledge any amount at the $1 level and receive nothing more than our humble appreciation in print, under any name you wish, even the Dark Lord of my Parent's Basement who Hates that Werewolves and Vampires have been Appropriated by Young Adult Fiction for FAR TOO LONG. I would be more than happy to print that thank you.
