As unbelievable as it may be to us, the last rewards for all our backers have finally been put in the mail. If any of you are still missing something, it should be coming in the next few days. Savor these last few moments of anticipation while you can.

It was over six months ago when we first had the idea for Destination: Inspiration. In that time, this project has inspired us, taught us, and given us so much. It has been the ride of a lifetime and one that frankly, we’re still not quite ready to get off of yet. For starters, somehow we ended up with a few extra Destination: Inspiration books. We’ve gotten some pretty great feedback from people who got one, but for those of you who didn't, see below for a look at the cover and a couple of the interior pages.

It’s about 40 pages long and includes over 75 of our favorite postcards, as well as a few other surprises. We’re pretty happy with how it turned out and excited about sharing it with the masses! The book makes a great gift for anyone you know who likes photography and prose that make you think. Or, if that person is you, we highly recommend getting one to keep all to yourself. 

The price will be $30 per book, including shipping. If you’re interested, all you have to do is email us at destinationinspiration2012@gmail.com for more info. There’s a limited supply so this is no time for procrastination!

As some of you have probably already noticed, 105 works of art and fiction were put into the mail this week.

Our little pieces of inspiration have grown up so fast. It seems like only yesterday that they were first delivered to our inbox as simple words. Over the next few weeks they were transformed into something more. On Monday, it finally came time for us to set the postcards loose on the world - and we could not be more proud. There's one out there right now with your name on it and all we hope for is that you get as much out of it as we did.

We'd love to hear what you think about your postcard! And don't worry, we're hard at work on the book, movie and other rewards that some of you are anxiously awaiting as well.They should be in your hands in just a couple of weeks. We're also hoping to put some of the postcards up on our website in the near future so check back for that.

Our first week on the road is officially over and it has definitely been a whirlwind! We hope you have all had the chance to keep up with the adventure on our blog: destinationinspiration2012.com. Along the way there have been foam replicas of ancient monuments, close encounters with giant sea creatures, behind the scenes tours of ships and space centers, pineapples worn as hats, bats that smell like corn tortillas and much, much more. Today is our longest day on the road as we hope to make the over 700 mile trek from San Antonio to Albuquerque before nightfall. 

Wherever we go, we carry three pieces of paper with all of your words of inspiration printed on them. The corners have gotten more than a little crinkled as we consult them for the thousandth time, wondering if the photo Cecily just took truly captures the essence of the word or if the story that just popped into Megan’s head really sums up the meaning. Some we’ve already got the perfect postcard planned out for, some are still being pieced together, but all are on our minds. We can’t wait to send you the finished product!

We’ve got your words of inspiration. We’ve packed our bags (well, almost). We’ve signed up for AAA. Now the time has finally come. 

Tomorrow we begin our journey of over 5,000 miles across 15 states. Armed with a camera (okay, five), a laptop (okay, three) and all the junk food we can eat, we are ready for an adventure of epic proportions. We have no idea what to expect, but wherever the road takes us, it’s sure to be pretty unforgettable. 

We’ve started a blog at destinationinspiration2012.com to give you the chance to stay updated on all of our shenanigans in real time. Feel free to share the link with anyone you think might be interested. We’re planning on blogging every day, of course you know what happens to the best laid plans…especially when Internet is not guaranteed. As much as possible, we promise to share all the details of the ridiculous things that are sure to occur when you put the two of us in a confined space for 19 days straight. 

Of course none of this would be happening without your support. You have inspired us so much already and we only hope that we can return the favor. Thanks again for backing our project and making this crazy idea we had into a reality!
