GO FAR is a work-in-progress documentary about the life of Christopher Rush, an amazingly inspirational human being who was born with muscular dystrophy (http://mda.org/disease/sma1.html). Rather than give up, he defied every expectation and lived a life full of happiness, optimism, and endless accomplishments that most able-bodied people would be proud of. Despite having been diagnosed with a life expectancy of two years, he lived until shortly before his 31st birthday.
During his last few months Chris developed an inspirational program called GO FAR (Goals, Obstacles, Focus, Act, Review) that he planned to teach to others who were disabled, troubled youth, and anyone else who needed encouragement and a better path to reaching their goals, regardless of the obstacles. This documentary will serve as his legacy, a message of enduring optimism and hope.
Thanks to all of my generous supporters, I can proudly say I've reached my goal of $10,000!!! I can now travel to Las Vegas and shoot my interview with Jerry Lewis during the MDA Labor Day Telethon. But the journey is far from over. Therefore...
My (NEW) GOAL: To raise an additional $15,000 ($25,000 total) to take a film crew to Michigan to film interviews with Chris' family, colleagues, and close friends, all of which will serve as the story spine for the entire documentary.
The additional $15,000 will cover the following for 5 days of shooting:
- Travel & Lodging expenses for the crew
- Renting high-def camera equipment, sound equipment, and lighting
- Daily stipends and meal allowances for the crew
- Transcriptions of the finished interviews
My (NEW) OBSTACLE: I only know so many people and many of them have already made generous donations. So I'm counting on you to spread the word!
My FOCUS: Once I shoot my interviews in Las Vegas and Michigan, I will have all the footage I need to raise money for post-production and start editing the film.
ACT: This is the step where you come in. We can't do it without your support. Any help is appreciated, and the list of REWARDS is to your right.
REVIEW: A portion of the final proceeds will be split between charitable contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and a scholarship fund set up in Chris’ name that will go to deserving individuals who have the determination to achieve great things despite huge obstacles.
I am confident this film will inspire people to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

Connected as Zack Arnold (210 friends)
ABOUT THE WRITER/DIRECTOR:
Zack Arnold is an award-winning film editor currently editing the tv series BURN NOTICE on USA Network. His list of professional editing credits can be viewed on IMDB:

Zack originally met Chris in college at the University of Michigan in a film production course. The first day of class, Chris (a quadriplegic) was wheeled into the classroom to stares of disbelief and silence. After all, how could someone paralyzed function in a high level film production course that was 100% hands-on? Despite the whispers and stares, Zack took it upon himself to include Chris in his group, and thus a lasting friendship was born and they were good friends from that point on. The last time Zack saw Chris was the day Chris was a groomsman at Zack's wedding. Chris passed away shortly after.
