Sofie, a timid young photographer, finds her inner strength after connecting with an eclectic chick who runs a vintage camera shop.
Synopsis: A timid young photographer is inspired to take on life with a new attitude after she forms a connection with an eclectic chick who runs a vintage camera shop...and she kicks some ass and takes some names along the way!
Polaroid Girl is a short film written and directed by April Maxey, co-produced by Summer Czajak. It is the second short they have worked on together, their first being Girl Scouting, which premiered at Frameline 35 in San Francisco, and since then has screened at many other LGBT fests. This film is being made on an ultra-low budget, and everyone working on it (from the cast to the crew to friends and roommates who help out) is donating their time and their talent to the project because they believe in it.
The film not only represents a distinct female perspective, but also a distinct lesbian and feminist perspective that we feel is often underrepresented. It explores art and photography through that perspective, and it features some awesome photography by Sarah Gordan who is a big inspiration to the short as well.
Check out this video I made that explores some of the themes of the short!:
The money we raise if we meet our goal will go to some of the many expenses of production, including (but not limited to): feeding all of the cast and crew everyday of the shoot, transportation, getting locations, props for set decorating, and all of the miscellaneous things we might need to buy along the way!
Thanks for checking out our Kickstarter, and please pass it along to anyone you think may be interested!!!
If we do not meet our goal by the date listed, your card will not be charged.
