Hi.  We will be phasing in soon new packaging for our Mobile Stand.  And we want to share with you the new design which will be simpler to open.  The top will be held in place using clear tape "dots" on each side.  Simply remove the top and find the Mobile Stand resting on an inner tray shaped to the rear of an iPad.

Hello!  We are thrilled to announce we have shipped all of the Mobile Stand rewards!!! If you have not received your stand yet, it should arrive in the next 5-8 business days for most of you. It might take a few extra days for international backers. For those of you who are about to receive your stand, please note we've published some additional "tips" captured in videos published on YouTube.

The first video demonstrates an alternative approach for attaching the Mobile Stand to your iPad — with your iPad in landscape orientation, first align the bottom corners of your iPad into the bottom corners of the Mobile Stand, then snap the top corners into place.

The second video we have published demonstrates an easy way to open the packaging and remove the Mobile Stand — avoid cutting the packaging open through the plastic material. Going forward, our packaging design is currently being changed to a box design which will be simpler to open.

Happy New Year!  We exited 2012 thankful for the support you gave us and our Mobile Stand project.  So far we have shipped over 70% of the rewards and expect to ship the balance over the next ~ 3 weeks.  Again, thank you for patience as our supply continues to improve.  

We have gained a lot of performance data after building hundreds of stands and getting feedback from many of you.  The hinge performance has exceeded our expectations and may allow us to eliminate the magnets from the design.  The hinge provides enough strength to keep the kickstand closed when collapsed without the use of magnets.  Also, our current packaging is not easy to open.  We are working on a simpler packaging design that we will phase in as part of a design refresh. 

Finally, the Mobile Stand was recently recognized as one of the most significant consumer technology products of 2012.  The following is taken from an article published on Forbes.com: 

"The best stand for the iPad 3 was the HumanToolz iPad Stand, which equaled the iPad in design and mechanical craftsmanship. The forged aluminum stand fits like a glove through a combination of connectors, magnets and pads, and enables the user to use the iPad in about any angle or configuration."

Hi. We want to pass along a very brief update.  The improved measuring tools proved successful.  We are on track to ship over 300 Mobile Stands in the next 14 days -- a large number will ship tomorrow.  We appreciate everyone's ongoing support and patience.  And we'll post another update with our status after we get through this next ~ 10 days of shipments.

Hello.  Our factory team is currently performing incoming inspection on materials received last week to support a new build of Mobile Stands. This process is taking longer than planned because we identified this week the factory team may be rejecting parts that are actually within spec but currently being identified as "out of spec" because their existing tools are not precise enough to validate all of the extremely tight tolerances.

New tools are being deployed to the factory so they can more accurately measure all dimensions and, most importantly, the holes where the hinges are installed.  If the hinge holes are too small by as little as 0.10 mm (or 0.004 in) then the hinge column part is rejected.  

We are having a much more accurate tool (to measure the hinge holes in each part) delivered to the factory by Monday to redo / complete the inspection of several hundred sets of materials.  After this inspection process is completed early next week we will provide an update regarding the quantity of Mobile Stands we will be able to ship next week.

We know many of you are counting on receiving your Mobile Stand before Christmas.  Our team and supply partners are working as hard as possible to have all Mobile Stand shipped in December -- hopefully in advance of the Christmas holiday.
