Hello. I'm Jon Llanes and I am the writer and director of a new film called Molly.

Molly is a short film that will run about 30 minutes. The film is currently in pre-production with plans to shoot in early September 2012. Our funding goal is $3000, this will finance us from production through distribution.

 

What is Molly about?

Molly is about a writer/artist named Jimmy who is struggling with his creative, professional, and love life. Jimmy is trying to succeed in his creative endeavors while working a dull, monotonous job to pay the bills. The book he has been working on is all about his struggling love life where he writes about his own personal failures with women through stories of fictitious characters based on the women he has dated. After a night of drinking with his best friend Vince, who will become Jimmy's link to reality, Jimmy creates a woman named Molly, Jimmy's ideal woman. Molly comes to life within a fantasy world that Jimmy has created. As their relationship becomes more serious, Jimmy begins to lose his grip on reality. The film explores whether or not someone can hold onto reality when given the option to live in a fantasy. It will also explore the struggles a creative person has as he makes the transition from the security of college to the uncertainty of a professional career.

Why we need your help

We are a group of film makers and actors trying to bring a vision to life while still maintaining a regular work schedule. Since we all have full schedules we are going to complete all of the principal photography in four to five days, which for the length of the script is a short time. We have secured most of the equipment needed for filming so most of the budget will go to day to day expenses such as travel/food/etc. for the cast and crew, ensuring we have the best quality picture and sound, and covering the costs of a festival run.

 

Who are we?

Jon Llanes- Writer/Director/Producer is a filmmaker and actor living in New York City. He graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television/and film in 2009.

Andy Mendez- Director of Photography graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television/Film in 2010. He currently lives in Brooklyn and freelances as a videographer and editor.

Lexi Phillips- Producer graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television/ and film in 2009. She currently lives in Brooklyn and works as a PA for television shows and a freelance videographer.

Chris Richards- Actor graduated from Kent State with a BFA in musical theatre in 2009. He currently lives in New York City where he made his Off-Broadway debut in 2012.

Kelly Morgan Richards- Actress graduated from Kent State with a BA in performance theatre. She currently resides in New York City where she utilizes her acting skills in her performance based job.

Danny Petsche- Actor was born and raised in New York City. He has used his experiences within the city to influence his acting skills.
