A short graphic novel written by Bucket Siler and illustrated by Frey Anya--inspiring, magical, and visually stunning!
The Story
Everything Good and Beautiful is short graphic novel about a girl named Key who decides to catalog all the good and beautiful things in her world--from cuddling to hot cocoa to rubbing her bare feet on cement--so she can have a reference for when she's feeling sad and hopeless. Not everything goes as planned, however, and soon she finds herself in the very pit of despair that inspired her project to begin with.
This is a funny and hopeful story about the dark places we go, and who (or what) helps us find our way back. We hope our readers find it as inspiring and beautiful as we do.
The Zine
The finished project will be a 7" by 8.5" zine, about 40 pages, with a full-color cover and black-and-white interior pages.
The Funds
Our fundraising goal is $1,000, which will be spent entirely on the printing costs for a first-run of about 400 copies of the zine. All donations over $10 will receive a copy of the finished zine. We are offering additional gifts as well, described in the right-hand column.
Any funds over $1,000 will be used to print additional copies of Everything Good and Beautiful, order stickers and postcards, and to pay for postage, envelopes, and other supplies needed to send out the zines to backers, buyers, bookstores, distributions, and reviewers.
We have been working on this project tirelessly for almost a year. The money raised here will help us to share our story with the world. Thank you so much for your support!
The Creators
Frey Anya is an illustrator and writer, born and raised in the desert. He is a spinner of intricate images full of magic, dreaming, reflection, family and friendship themes. Always keeping close the concept of using art as part of a fierce force for healing. freyranya@yahoo.com
Bucket Siler is a writer, performer, and zine publisher based out of New Mexico. She is the author and publisher of Potentially Heartwrenching Distractions (2008) and I Have a Song for You (2010), distributed through Microcosm Publishing and City Lights Books in San Francisco. She performs her work live to audiences from Portland to Albuquerque.
Frey and Bucket have been friends, dreamers, and schemers for what seems like an eternity. This is their first collaboration.
