About this project

I want to self-publish this work--already completed--to share the plights and joys of the postmodern housewife in poetry that combines the beatnik style with the domestic realm.

It explores a churchgoing mother's guilt about smoking cigarettes and having crushes on rock stars, celebrates moments when these indulgences produce no guilt at all, deals with infertility and a mother with dementia, thanks God for a husband in the field of mental health. Also featured: odd dreamscapes, favorite cocktails, funny things the boy said.

The poetry is written--the money raised will go toward self-publication of Winter Cocktails by a self-publishing company that also promotes the work. A portion of the money will also go toward assembling the special edition, Beatnik Babka, a featured reward.

It is the hope that publishing this debut collection will either lead to the publication of more poetry and/or stories, or to my finding other housewives who want to hang out during the day and collaborate in shag-carpeted basements on sci-fi or detective novels.

Thanks God for restaurant-style pizza and Pepsi Cola and frequently finds solace in new lipstick, snapdragons, and true-crime paperbacks.
