Background Information

I have had an unquenchable passion for the nature of mind and quantum mechanics since the late 1970s when i was building laser systems and making high fidelity transmission holograms at college.  This lead me into a deep study of theoretical physics and the mysteries of consciousness where truth IS stranger than fiction. 

As an artist, I have been exploring these worlds visually for many years.  After decades of research and work, my thinking regarding physics and consciousness, along with my artistic expression of these ideas have come together in an e-book called Projected Moments. 

The next important phase of this outreach is to present my ideas and art through a public exhibition.  It is my hope that through this project's efforts additional exposures will be achieved.  This is a rather costly venture which is why I need help to make it happen. 

Project Details

High resolution images have already been created.  The book was published March 7, 2012 and is available as an electronic art book on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and Apple iTunes for viewing on iPads, Kindle Fires and Nooks.  A small, 7"x7" printed book is also available at no mark up through Blurb.  There are a total of seventy images in the book.

One image from each chapter will be printed in a limited edition of 5 for a total of seventy images, never to be printed again.  Each image will be printed at 24″ x 24″ plus 6″ borders on museum quality, thick – 240 gsm, French watercolor rag stock.  Each print will be tagged with a secured sequence numbered hologram and mapped to a certificate of authenticity with like hologram.

One print from each limited edition of five will be over matted and placed behind plexiglass in blond wooden frames.  That will be a total of fourteen framed prints and will constitute the show.  

The show, kickstarter funding, and the book will be announced to all the major art galleries in Santa Fe, NM and the world.  I intend to advertise the event with tightly integrated web and targeted emails, parallel social media campaigns on Facebook and Twitter, as well as through traditional media channels. 

The show will hopefully be funded through the kind generosity of patrons here at kickstarter.com.  The amount requested covers the printing costs for paper and ink, mounting and framing, as well as one month's exhibition space and staffing. The following is a break out of the costs.

5 rolls of Canson Arches Aquarelle 36"x50' 240 gsm paper = $1,400

Epson Ink: 3 sets of 8 (220 ml) cartridges = $2,100

Matt and frame 14 prints at 36"x36" = $3,500

Holograms and certificates of authenticity = $380

One month's rent for gallery space in downtown Santa Fe* = $2,500

Staffing at $10 an hour (will pay commission not included here ) = $1,840

Total Cost: $11,720     

* If rent for the gallery is less, then the money remaining will be used for more advertising.          

I will personally print all images on my Epson 44" 9800 printer. Patrons receive various sizes of signed prints and/or a printed soft or hard bound version of the book Projected Moments based on levels of contribution.
