Update #3: happy holidays, apologies for the delay
Update #2: thanks! next steps...
Update #1: we did it ! let's keep going....
First of all, we want to say a huge mega thanks to everyone who's been involved with the kickstarter so far. we were blown away to get funded in just two weeks. Tempt told us he was amazed.
he writes:
Thank you to everyone who has contributed - especially during this current economic crisis. In times such as these it's up to us at the community level to pull together in order to address the issues that politicians and governments either cannot or will not solve. This eyewriter technology is not about allowing one paralyzed artist to be creative again. Although your contribution will allow me to regain a level of self-autonomy and the dignity of working again, it's about much more than that. It's about helping to produce affordable technology for others suffering from total paralysis - and without equal access to healthcare - to literally be able to speak for themselves again; draw, get online and have some level of freedom in spite of being trapped in bodies that have become prisons.
In addition, he told us he's getting busy making new drawings, and is super excited about getting his artwork out there. In the next weeks, we'll start getting in touch directly with those of you who have contributed, and start to discuss logistics like T-shirt sizes, address, etc, so that we can get you all the goods when this kickstarter wraps up.
In the meantime, we'd love it if you can spread the word, while there is still time left to get involved. Tell your co-workers, friends, family and anyone who you think might want to help this project forward. We'll be spending 1/2 of the amount we raise over the kickstarter amount to fund the development of new hardware (and the other 1/2 for producing the artwork), so any further support helps push the project that much further.
Huge thanks again from the EW team -- zach, theo, evan, chris, james, tempt1.
