"Tear stained vintage jangle pop wrapped in spectral girl-group vocals...poignant lyrics, clever hooks and lovely melodies" -Goldmine Magazine
Hello friends, fans, family, countrymen etc...
Our band, The Secret History has just released an album called 'The World That Never Was' on the small, but seminal Detroit area label Le Grand Magistery. We have been really blown away by the critical and college/public radio reception the album has received so far. This album does not compromise in terms of music, words and ideas...and while that probably excludes it from being a mainstream 'hit record,' it does offer us an opportunity to make an impact in different/substantial ways.
If creative freedom is the advantage of a boutique indie label, tour support and promotional budgets are the downside. We have been scraping up funds to promote the LP and have been able to put a great team together on the cheap, mostly due to mutual belief in the project. WE REALLY WANT TO TAKE OUR MUSIC TO AMERICA. Or at least some of America. Dates in New Haven, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles are booked, with stops in San Fransisco, Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Pittsburgh and Athens also possibilities. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP! We have estimated our tour/promotion expenses for the 7 of us to pull off a series of summer mini tour legs at about $6000 dollars. We are hoping to raise between $2500-$3000 from folks who may just have a Don Quixote like love for tilting at windmills. If you can make a donation, we've got some Public Television like thank you gifts. But mostly you'd have the gratitude and admiration of 7 artists trying hard to do something special.

Here is what has already been said by critics...
"Not only lives up to My Favorite’s legacy, but surpasses it... the songs, vocals, and production come together so perfectly. On The World That Never Was, they’ve crafted one of the best, most lyrical, and emotionally powerful pop albums of the past however long."

"Darkness to balance the light, hopeful lyrical phrasing and bright jangling guitars to temper the sadness. An amalgamation and reinvention of many of the best bits in a music lover's collection. Simply put, The World That Never Was is a modern classic."

"The World That Never Was is an elegantly human album. With fresh pop hooks, spacious guitar and glowing vocal harmonies...beauty and simplicity pouring from its chords.
Magic happens all over this record."
'Sup Magazine said..
"The World That Never Was takes notions of indie pop and crash collides them, just like that double-decker bus, with hints of Ziggy Stardust, the Smiths, sixties female pop icons like Lulu and Dusty Springfield, and mid-20th-century Italian cinema"
And Deli Magazine NYC has named the record "CD of The Month"
