By funding this novella, two things happen.

1. You get an entire novella that will not be published before May of 2013 (If the world lasts that long)

2. I get to use the funds to properly get the word out about Grace Murphy and her universe. I haven't spent much time marketing the books and I want to change that.

It occurred to me when I was writing Rifts (The second novel in the series) that we needed to know more about what happened pre-Grace. I had this rich storyline with the Grace Murphy series that was plotted out but there was so much going on in the past that would really tie the entire events together.  Unfortunately none of it really fit in with Grace's books.

I wanted to know what made Hope crazy. Were she and Drew destined to be soul-mates or was that a forced scenario? Is that why he couldn't kill her?  What happened that made Geb kill Diana's kids? Most of all - Where did these people come from?

I realized that I could write something that would help explain why things were happening now.

The problem became, how do I find time to tell these stories? I've set a goal of two books a year with Grace until her story finishes out.  It takes an unbelievable amount of time and effort to get her books from conception to pushing the button to publish.

I could have sold the novellas and short stories in between books but then I realized that I could accomplish something much more important with these stories.

That's where this Kickstarter project comes in. I'd like to stay an independent author and keep my novels at a reasonable cost. If we make enough, there is a chance that I can offer the books in print to expand our readership. 

Hell, if this project reaches $10,000 I will write an additional novella that anyone donating $25 or more will receive by October first. That Novella will also not be published or for sale until May of 2013.

If by some crazy miracle this project reaches $20,000 everyone who donates $25 or more will receive a third Novella and a newsletter with my ugly picture of the week for an entire three months.  Here's an example -

I'm also willing to embarrass myself silly by uploading all of the video outtakes for this thing. Lots of swearing was involved. :D

I'll be quite honest - I'd like to give this series a chance. The reality is that the funds from this Kickstarter get funneled back into the writing. This includes advertising, ARC copies for reviewers and bloggers, giveaways and promotions for the fans.

You won't be seeing vacation photos from Bali anytime soon, but hey I'm willing to give you a frazzled writer photo every week if that's what it takes.

I believe in Grace and I know that you do too. If given the chance, she can be amazing.
