Pages, Release Date News, etc.
Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay in updates; we've been really busy here at Château Ashes and many exciting pieces of art have come in the door. Felipe and Milton Sobreiro have the first 10 pages or so inked; Cass James is 1/4 of the way through the Valentine bonus story, and Mack Chater is starting to send me thumbnails for his section of Ashes. A selection of art below!
WHEN IS VALENTINE COMING OUT? I've sent the cover and first 10 chapters of Valentine, re-laid out for print, to Image... and solicit text. It's a wonderful feeling. This book has waited so long! It's going to be 352 pages, digest format, and will be solicited for August or September (we are not sure yet). So, those who have the double Ashes/Valentine reward should expect to get their print copy of Valentine by September. Everyone else, I will give the Diamond order code in a future update... I'll also be running a Kickstarter to raise money to finish Valentine (there are circa 14 episodes to go) but not until late September. I really want to fulfill a considerable amount of Ashes first.
WHEN IS ASHES COMING OUT? I'm hoping for November for the print edition. Now looking at July for the start of the digital version (which is available only to backers).... we are mainly waiting on Igor, who has had a bunch of deadlines moved up on him. I would strongly prefer that we wait, and give Igor time to approach his pages in a happy, peaceful manner, than to be all "you need to do it now!11!" and get rushed pages. Again, the good news is that because the book is being spread out among a number of artists, we should have the whole darn thing done by September. Most artists seem to be doing their pages in May/June.. so the serialisation of the chapters digitally may even be weekly! It'll be like a little 7-episode TV miniseries/event....
WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE SURVEYS? Yeah, I never got those done. You didn't miss them; it was me. Next week, probably! I'm off to sunny Pittsburgh this weekend to shoot a music video but I will get to it when I return.
I DIDN'T PARTICIPATE IN THE KICKSTARTER; HOW CAN I GET A BOOK? You can pre-order books (which come with the free digital serialisation) at these retailers (scroll to bottom of post). Most do not have a massive amount of stock so do not hang about.
WHY DOES IT STILL SAY "AND JIMMY BROXTON" ON THE MAIN PROJECT PAGE? Because Kickstarter preserves the main project page exactly as it existed on the last minute of the project. As soon as the project ends, that main page becomes completely uneditable. Yeah, bum, I know.
