The dynamic duo returns with their second installment of the Five Year War series rekindling the art and style of 80s RPG-based fantasy

Hello again from Art of the Genre!  I have to say that the past few months have been an incredible ride, and just having another opportunity to write to all you folks out on the Kickstarter platform is an true privilege.

The success of AtoG’s first Kickstarter novel release, The Cursed Legion, has given both Jeff Easley and I the will and determination to continue what we began in that book by featuring another volume in the series with even more incredible old school art and adventure.

WHAT YOU GET: Jeff has once again gotten the oils and canvas out for an original cover, this time featuring one of his iconic dragons, and I’m deeply entrenched in continuing the tales of Erik, Saffron, and Relan.

There is something intrinsically emotional about Adventure Fantasy to me, and the process of seeing characters develop, the almost palpable feel of their upward progression, and the way a party feel interacts with the environment around them is addictive.

Now if you know me, or my work at Black Gate Magazine, you’ve probably got an idea of my connections to great RPG art.  It is that connection that has kept me going in this industry and is the basis for Art of the Genre.  Still, with Jeff firmly entrenched in this project I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if we included even more nostalgia from a bygone era in fantasy.

With the talents of Elmore and Holloway added to those of Jeff, this project will surely go to a whole new level!

THE PLAN FOR EXPANSION: So here is the plan for this latest volume of The Five Year War, the book entitled The Mid-Winter Fall.  Our base goal for getting this book out to the public with an original Easley cover and set of interiors is $3,000.  However, if we can increase that goal to $5,000 I’m also going to include original illustrations from former TSR and industry great Jim Holloway as well as a special guest iconic illustration by Larry Elmore.

That puts our Stretch Goal #1 with Elmore and Holloway art at : $5,000

Stretch Goal #2 will provide a secret artist also from TSR's 'Pit' to join the rest as well as another bonus short story to ALL backers with an original Jeff Easley ink wash cover at: $7,500

Stretch Goal #3 completes the cycle and will give EVERYONE who contributed the final novel in this introductory trilogy complete with another Easley cover and more interiors!  If you'd like to see this epic completed in all its old school glory, then here is your chance!  This goal is set at $10,000.

These three industry legends, although working together in the TSR artist’s ‘Pit’ for nearly a decade, have never appeared all together in a single adventurous volume.  This is what Art of the Genre is striving for, a way to mingle talents and bring back that art of a past generation before it is lost forever.

Note: For all international backers, please add an additional $10.00 U.S. to your pledge if you are getting anything shipped to you.
