Obviously it's been looking pretty solid for awhile now but its still nice to see the project's officially a success!:D

      Well done!

Ed: Again, glad to see Rich's link has helped this project. Love it that UA was your first hardcover purchase, but you're right, that book has horrid bindings! I hope we continue to let you relive some great memories.

    8. Patch.small

Creator Ed Stevens on February 12, 2012

I also found this through Rich Burlew's OotS kickstarter. I'm glad I did, I love the old school D&D art and fantasy style. The 1st Ed. UA was my first retail purchase of a hardcover book, Jeff's cover on that was wht drew my attention . I followed that by buying all of the "new" art cover books for the 1st Edition AD&D. The bindings, as we all know, were their only downfall, but the Easley art is still an inspiration.

    9. Caldwell%20300.small

Creator Scott Taylor on February 11, 2012

Darren: It should would, but unless we get picked up by some media source or mentioned by some other huge Kickstarter successful project in our category its not likely to happen.

    10. Missing_small

      Creator Darren Benford-Brown on February 11, 2012

Would be fantastic for this to hit 10k..4 days to do it!

    11. Caldwell%20300.small

Creator Scott Taylor on February 11, 2012

Justin: Awesome about the 'E'. An Easley drawing was the basis for the first character I ever made in D&D so I know where you are coming from! And not to worry, even if you're not sold on my writing, Jeff is still going to make this project worth every pledge, promise :)

    12. Viking%20helmet%20-%20medium.small

Creator Justin Larsen on February 11, 2012

Mr. Taylor & Mr. Easley: Thanks for being willing to bring this sort of project back from extinction. I'm looking forward to the fiction, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I am especially looking forward to the cover. I guess I would also be lying if I didn't disclose that I named more than one D&D character specifically so I could draw the Easley "E" as their first initial, too, but don't blame me too much for that; I was in junior high.

      Nick,
Thanks man. I feel the same way about that 1E art and it's carried through my entire life. Also, we're having a great time with this timeline jump and to have other artists of that era coming in to join the revolution is fantastic. Again, its all thanks to backers like you!

    18. Missing_small

      Creator Nick M on February 10, 2012

I'm another one that found you from Rich's OotS kickstarter. 1st Ed art is what I assoc. with the game the most and no way I could pass up a book/art done in this style!
      .
Your idea of extending a time-line with the same world and writing to fit those various evolutions is great. Looking forward to the book.

      Jason,
Thanks so much for the kind words. You know, it really means a great deal to Jeff and I that people like you are out there and are willing to support our work. I'm also very pleased that Rich Burlew took an interest in our project. With the success of his Order of the Stick Kickstarter it amazes me he'd have time to even look at other things happening around him, but it goes to prove that old gamers never miss out on a good thing!

Well, you're in luck. A Dark Fantasy is in pre-production for this universe and Brom will be providing the cover. Ground work has already begun for the 2nd volume in Jeff's Adventure Fantasy timeline as well! Yep, the revolution is upon us!

Plus 1 on what Jeff says about other projects.
I think a series would be fantastic & im sure backers would provide future support. I know i would!
Also how about opening up a poll for future gendres within the world thats been created, as mentioned in your last update?
I for one would vote for dark fantasy 8)
Anyway keep up the good work, its going to be an exciting 'adventure' 8)

      Darren,
We honestly didn't see 5K happening, but this success does have our minds going in the right direction, so if we get close, I'll be sure to post an update on any new cool stuff! As for the John thing, when I'm as famous a J.K. Rowling you can tell people you once called me John and we all had a good laugh about it. That will great for an opening at parties :)

It's certainly those memories that help drive this project. Just because time has moved on doesn't mean people don't remember and still want a great reminder of why 1981 had such promise.
