Why Music?
One of the beauties of music is the fact that there are so many different styles and variations that it can and does appeal to everyone in one form or another. Music is an integral part of our cultural identity and what better way for children to explore it than to read an alphabet book about it.
On a more personal note, I have a 3 year old daughter who seems to love every type of music she comes in contact with. Now trying to sing along with songs on the radio and in movies. The only downside is that I am limited when it comes to musical styles and variety. When I met Geoffrey Munn and the opportunity came up to create an alphabet book focusing on different genres of music it was too good an opportunity to pass up. Once the book is finished I will be able to sit down with my daughter and while she works on her alphabet we'll be able to work on broadening our musical horizons together.
What is it?
"S is for Ska: A Musical Alphabet" is a journey through the alphabet as hosted by Geoffrey Munn, the illustrator, to help present the myriad of musical styles in a fun and engaging manner for children, so that when they come across a style they are not familiar with they will immediately want to find out what it is all about.
What are the funds being used for?
The funds raised will help to cover the costs associated with publishing and printing a book, namely:
ISBN numbers
Barcodes
Copyright registration
Printing
Proofing
and more.
Where is the book going to be?
The book will me made available in paperback form for sale in various bookstore and online as an eBook.
A special limited edition set of 500 hardcover books will be printed exclusively for this kickstarter campaign and will not be available in stores.
