Many people ask if we know it’s crazy to open an arts center in the current economy. And yes - we do. But when art has been cut from public schools, when there is decreased funding for artistic institutions all over the country, and when artists everywhere are questioning their ultimate purpose while so many things around us seem unstable, whether or not it's crazy doesn't seem important. Our question: Is there a better time to establish a center designed to bring inspiration to everyone who walks in our doors? We think not.

We are abrasiveMedia, a Nashville based organization formed to invest in the artists of our city and facilitate the growth of the artistic community. Through our galleries, performances, art forums, classes and workshops we have become a small but thriving underground group of artists, who are invigorated by each other’s determination and shared dream of a day when this city is known for all of its artistic expressions. But, right now, we need a home.

With your help, we are opening a new arts center in Nashville designed to foster multi-genre, collaborative and experimental art. All kinds of artists will find a home here: visual, literary, multimedia and performing artists, specifically those who have a desire to work in an inter-disciplinary environment with a focus on community outreach. The facility will also be used to host workshops and a monthly open house, providing the opportunity to see artists at work and join in the creative process with hands-on instruction. Our goal is to establish this arts center in one of Nashville's urban neighborhoods.

abrasiveMedia exists to enhance and support the artistic sector while utilizing art and creativity to enrich the quality of life in our local community. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. We would greatly appreciate your contributions towards our cause. We can’t do this without support from our community. No amount is too small, or too large.

Your contribution will enable us to cover the costs of the build out for a co-operative artist space in downtown Nashville. This space will not exist just for artists; it will be a place for everyone in our community to experience a wide variety of artistic expressions.
