"Local Politics"

Back in the 1990's Erik Livingston was a household name. He had it all, fame, money, glory and an invite to every party in Hollywood. However after a string of box office flops his career took a nose dive. No one in the entertainment business would give him a second look. He took it as a sign and faded away, choosing to take up residence back in his small hometown in Pennsylvania. 

In present day Erik is in his 40's and is growing weary with his homebody life and wants to get back in the limelight. He is financially independent thanks to good investments and some royalties, but he's bored. His assistant Stewart Anderson playfully suggests that he run for mayor of the small town, as a way of getting his name back in the headlines he agrees.  Hilarity ensues as Erik goes from well liked local celeb to attention grabbing media whore. Turning the town upside down as he tries to gain national headlines from a local election. 

Making anything these days is expensive,especially anything in the entertainment business.  it takes is toll on the people involved both financially and mentally, It's a labor of love that won't let you stop till it's done. A few years back I somehow got it in my head that I could become an actor, absolute rubbish right? Wrong, I worked at it, I strove for it, I got it. I ended up with a background role in  a little film you may have seen " The Dark Knight Rises"  After that I landed some smaller roles but enough to wet my mouth and make me sure I wanted to do this forever. 

I picked this story out of my head because I felt like it spoke to a pretty broad range of people. On the surface it just seems like Erik wants to get back in the spotlight cause he wants the attention and notoriety. It's sort of a metaphor for all of us though because haven't we all done something a little crazy now and then just to get a little attention? Haven't we all been in a situation where it started out as something innocent enough, but then spiraled totally out of control and became a hilarious display of embarrassment? Well I have at least. I think if nothing else it's the type of story where we can all sit back and forget about life for a bit while watching someone make a complete and utter fool of himself. 

I would like it be shot in the same sort of style as "Parks and Recreation", "30 Rock", "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", and "Curb Your Enthusiasm". A quick paced sit com that will keep you watching and make you wonder where the time went when it ends. I hope you will join me in making this happen, I would love the chance to share my vision with you and make it a reality.
