Asobi Seksu on January 7, 2010

Hi All. We're in the process of gathering all the info from everyone. If you haven't already let us know what size, color shirt you want, or which LP or CD, please do so. We can't place the order for all the stuff until we have everyone's requests. We'll get everything out the door as soon as possible - thank you for being so patient.

We're working on a way to get any extra funds needed for international orders (if you didn't already pledge extra) and will be in touch about that soon.

We're also preparing for the acoustic tour -- so lots to do!

Thank you guys again and again for your contribution to this project. It's made a huge impact!

I too noticed that I need to add $10 on to my pledge for shipping to Canada, but there doesn't seem to be a way of me giving you more money at this point.

Just curious I pledged $50 and I see now I need to add $30 onto my pledge for the Vinyl since I'm in Canada. How do I go about adjusting it, seeing as it's now over? Or am I just blind and can't find the option to adjust my pledge?
      Thanks

hooray me for kicking it up over $8,000! ha! $150 is a pittance for the endless hours of pure joy asobi seksu's given me over the years. while i'm not optimistic they'll ever come back to salt lake city, i can solace in having seen them at least once in my life. yuki hopping on the drums at the end of 'red sea' remains the hottest thing i've ever seen in my 36 years of life. good luck on the tour! i wish you nothing but the best. i absolutely love you. -- matt is SLC.

Hi Luis - the $30 international shipping charge applies only if you make a pledge that includes vinyl. For buttons/postcard the international shipping would be $10.

Luis Silva on November 18, 2009

I'm more than willing to make a pledge or two (late xmas gifts and so), but the $30 charge for shipping seems way too much for things like the a postcard and a few buttons. That value seems right for the $50 pledge (the one I'm more inclined to sign), but for the $10 seems too much.

Art is a beautiful thing. And artists create profound works that reverberate through our hearts, effecting us in ways nothing else can compare. But what's best of all is that your art achieves---and perhaps transcends---these limitations, as you reach out for your dreams. Thanks for your years of performance and I wish you all the best of luck in your endeavors!

P.S. I'll be looking forward to your drawing. You're artists anyway, right? ;)

Good luck with the tour, I hope everything goes smoothly and you reap some of the rewards that this project offers. Much love to one of my favourite bands, you deserve to keep making music until we all end up looking like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino. So y'know, another good 50-60 years.

Asobi Seksu

Has not connected their Facebook account.

SPIN **** (4 stars): “This Brooklyn group's previous albums established them as shoegaze confectioners, molding candy swirls out of Yuki Chikudate's soaring, translucent voice and guitarist James Hanna's Kevin Shields–worshiping production. But here, Asobi Seksu do something My Bloody Valentine can't -- leave Shields behind."

MOJO **** (4 stars): “Cavernous, post-shoegazing pop from Brooklyn”

NEW YORK TIMES: "What was once called shoegazer-rock -- shimmering, multilayered guitars enfolding confessions of longing and ambiguity -- is back in Asobi Seksu, a New York band that wraps its guitars and keyboard around well-made pop melodies and the girlish ache of Yuki Chikudate's voice."

PITCHFORK: "Yes, the guitar overload, massive reverb, and deceptively sweet vocals are all there, but this New York quartet is anything but a My Bloody Valentine retread. Frontwoman Yuki Chikudate gives the band a charismatic focus, and her vocals range from a soulful croon to a delicate wisp. Whether she's singing in Japanese or English (she does both in about equal measure), she always keeps it catchy, and that squishing sound you hear when she sings "put your tongue up to my battery" on "Nefi+Girly" is indie boys melting across the country."
