Have you ever wanted to run away to Paris for a week?  Even just a day?  Even just an hour?

The documentary "Postcards from Paris" gives you that experience.  It is a special kind of documentary that simply takes you to Paris and lets you explore through a series of images that are like "moving postcards".  There is no commentary, no ideology to expound... it's just an hour away in Paris, absorbing the city.

I have been living in Paris for several years and made this documentary to convey my thoughts about Paris as it really is, not just the images people have of it from movies.  You can read more about my inspiration for this film in this interview:

Une vision inédite de Paris, vu par un américain résidant dans la ville des lumières, ce documentaire vous propose des images sans mots, des ambiances sans explications, des surprises spontanées de la vraie vie.  C'est une forme de documentaire hors commun, mais qui offre une expérience cinématographique pas comme les autres, et en plus, dans la ville où le cinéma est né.

Pourtant, ce projet ne se finance pas par le CNC.  Il est veritablement indépendant.  Le tournage étant auto-produit, je fais appel maintenant aux amis et à la foule anonyme sur la toile pour le financement de la post-production.  Kickstarter est une plate-forme de crowd-funding, (littéralement, "financement par la foule") par laquelle chaque participant peux s'engager à un montant de soutien, et si j'atteins le seuil du but financière, je récupere l'argent pour financer la post-production.  Si on n'atteint pas le seuil, personne ne payera son engagement.  En revanche, tout supporteur reçois un récompense de la liste à droite.

Alors, la participation donne l'occasion de participer directement à la création d'un projet culturel, qui en plus donne une nouvelle point-de-vue sur la vie parisienne en 2011.  Ni d'opinions, ni d'hypothèse: rien que l'image.
