If you were unstoppable, could you handle the possibilities?

It started in Iceland
where earth meets itself coming and going through volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls, and more sheep than you can count. If you don't like the landscape, wait a few minutes. It might change. Remember Eyjafjallajökull?
This is the kind of unstoppable creative energy we think of when we tell the story of our friend, Icelandic cinematographer Pétur Kristján Guðmundsson.
So, what is this Kickstarter project all about, and why does it need your help?
It's about making a documentary, Invulnerable, which will follow Pétur's story as he finishes production work on his film HEILD. Although a serious accident requires Pétur to work from a wheelchair, he has still pursued his goal of creating the world's first non-narrative film about Icelandic landscape and society.
The documentary will also follow the evolution of Pétur's condition. Pétur is working hard on his rehabilitation, with the goal of walking again.
We are asking for your help to raise just enough money to pay the expenses of shooting this documentary. Any contribution will help this project to become a success.
Pétur will make HEILD no matter what, in spite of some very serious obstacles, the Icelandic landscape notwithstanding. Living with an unchosen vulnerability, Pétur can't help being who he is: a filmmaker.
So, to answer your question: we are asking for funding to film a documentary about Pétur.
Who exactly are we?
We are RAW Productions, a group of global filmmaking amigos. Enrique Pacheco is director and cinematographer. Once we get funded, we can schedule the rest of our team and will introduce you all in an update.
What exactly does this crew propose to do?
We will follow Pétur in Iceland, during the first three weeks of August, 2012, documenting him as he films the final scenes for HEILD.
Want a sneak preview?
No problem. Here is an interview Enrique and his producer filmed with Pétur for Invulnerable last March, in Reykjavik.
Volcanoes could care less about money. We, however, could really use some.
This funding will support the travel and accommodation needs of a small documentary ground crew on location in Iceland: a director, producer and assistant director, camera assistant, sound person, and production assistant. The deliverable will be a 50-minute documentary, early in 2013.
Will I be able to see this documentary?
We've listed it as a download in gratitude for your donation of at least $25, and we're going to distribute the film to as many international film festivals as possible.
What am I paying for?
No one in the crew actually lives in Iceland, so we will need to fly there, drive, camp, and eat. Don't worry, we all love Icelandic food. Like pulsa, skyr, and maybe some bjór, when we can get it.
The crew will also be helping out Pétur, if he should need anything. We're cool that way.
Will any of this money go to help Pétur?
Funding this project will support the production and distribution of the documentary Invulnerable to international festivals, and to deliver Kickstarter rewards. We are budgeting a portion to support Pétur in planning the final production of HEILD.
So, to answer your question:
Backing this project basically means you are helping "support the global happiness" as Pétur likes to say. By the end, the project will have supported global happiness by a total of 50 minutes of film.
Can you really quantify how much happiness can be expected?
We are unable to give an estimate of the amount of happiness people will be experiencing. However, we are reasonably sure that people are going to be very inspired by seeing the story of creative work in action. No matter what, against all odds.
And now, a little more about Pétur and HEILD.
Iceland exists according to its own terms, and so does Pétur. Click here to find more about Pétur and TrailerPark Studios. You can see that Pétur does whatever it takes to get the job done, including building or modifying most of his equipment both for the extreme cinematography conditions, and his extremely low budget.
Also, he is collaborating with a team of specialists on designing a new pair of leg-braces to allow his knees to bend at every step, instead of being either stiff or loose, like his current ones.
And, he's always very polite.
We can't wait to tell you the rest of the story about Pétur, and why the way he is doing this project is so amazing.
But we'll need to get funded, first!
Please take a moment to watch the trailer for HEILD. And then remember to support this documentary. We think you will be really happy if you do.
