• Let me tell you a story. Alone, in a city built on dreams. A silent battle is being fought. It's in all of us. There are moments that will define us. There are voices that will go unheard. The cycle will be broken. Take a look around you. Every 13 seconds a child is abused. Approximately 1 in 6 boys is abused before the age of 16. How can we fight what we do not know or refuse to see hiding in plain sight in virtually every community where the unspeakable and unimaginable happens to children? Sexual abuse is under-reported, under-recognized and under-treated. Silence about this type of abuse is very common. My name is Antonio Brown and this is my story.

The Goal

Over the past few years sexual abuse and molestation has made headlines involving high profile figures. The victims were abused as children and never said anything until the acts were exposed thus forcing them to come forward.  Reluctantly, these victims spoke out for the first time regarding the abuse they suffered. Still, some remain quiet out of fear of reliving their nightmares.  In releasing my memoir, Muted. Dreams, my hope is that others will see that they are not alone and speaking out is the first step in the healing and understanding process. I want those who have survived sexual molestation and abuse to know that although staying quiet may temporarily relieve their feelings of confusion, not releasing the mute button will only continue the cycle of abuse. The sooner we are able to talk openly, the sooner we can break the chain and save so many kids from having to go through what we went through.   

The money raised through my Kickstarter campaign will be used in various ways. 

-Printing costs for the novel in both hard cover and paperback (approximately 20,000 books). 

-Promotional and advertising costs.

-Key city bi-coastal book tour, targeting those areas where reported cases of abuse and molestation are the highest.

-Costs of books to be given to young adults in youth centers and shelters who have suffered from abuse and molestation.
