We are proud, proud Clevelanders. We are even prouder to be from the greatest region in the United States: the Rust Belt. Now, we know that our beloved Belt has seen it’s fair share of disasters and disappointments over the past 40 or so years, but it is still our home, and we couldn’t love it more. That being said, there’s quite a bit or work to be done to preserve, and more importantly redefine, our wonderful Rust Belt.

This is where you come in…

Saving Cities is an organization founded with the intention to revitalize our postindustrial region for our generation and those to follow. We aim to do this through a series of programs and projects that focus on how wonderfully adaptable our hometowns really are. A big part of that plan involves creating a slew of multimedia content that highlights just how sexy civic development really is (and it is, we promise).

As you might have guessed from the giant Kickstarter logo in the left top corner of this page, we need your help to raise a little bit of cash to get a few projects moving. Nothing too crazy, just around $2,500.00 to help us cover some necessary travel expenses and a little bit of gear (you can see exactly how your money helps in the Rewards section)!

This fundraiser is geared towards a feature length documentary project that we’re setting out to shoot at the end of May. We will be embarking on a 14-day journey across the Rust Belt, meeting with six of the most innovative initiatives we could find. The aim of this documentary is to inform and inspire a new generation of leaders to take the vital actions necessary to rebuild our great region.

We have dubbed this documentary 'Red, White & Blueprints: A Grassroots Guide to Saving Our Great Cities'

There’s a lot of great stuff up for grabs at various levels of contribution (as can be seen on the far right side of this page). We really feel strongly that this project has potential to bring to light a whole new side of our cities for the world to witness. If nothing else, it gives us all something to cherish: a positive multimedia expose of a part of our nation that seems to attract nothing but (mostly) unwarranted cynicism.

We appreciate your support, be it fiscal or in spirit. This project would be nothing without the thousands of you who stand proudly and stubbornly at the side of your hometowns.
