I never knew how much time it could take to edit a thing.
I'm used to working in single camera format. Having four separate video feeds? Yeah, I wasn't ready for how weird that would be. Especially where color is concerned; I hadn't even contemplated how different the four pictures would look. There's a bunch of geeky video stuff I could rant about, but needless to say, WarSheep didn't just magically piece itself together like I hoped it would.
But. I think the edit is done.
I've watched it a few dozen times, and I'm probably never going to be happier with it. It still needs credits, and probably one more pass for color matching and sound, but I think the show is there now. Ready to be shoved onto a DVD.
Which is a whole other thing, of course.
Meanwhile, life continues apace, the pace being "ridiculously fast", and more puppetry has happened to delay the WarSheep a bit. I recently performed a NEW piece for Puppet Playlist in New York. Head to their site to take a look:
AND I'll be seeing some of you at the National Puppetry Conference, which somehow is right around the corner, and will mark the one year anniversary of the original production of the show.
I can taste the finish line. Tastes like asphault and sweat. Soon, my sheeples. Soon there will be things in your mailboxes.
Soon is, of course, an entirely relative term. "Worst case scenario, late May." Oh, how young and foolish I was when I wrote that. I'm so much wiser now.
You guys are the best. Your patience makes monks smile.
After the last update, a few of you were asking about the WarSheep T-shirt I was wearing.
Yes, that is a real shirt. The internet is a powerful thing.
This is by no means in any way intended as an ad. If I could give these things away, I would, but Spreadshirt won't let me. But if you want a WarSheep garment, they're available here:
Talk to you soon, Sheeples.
