About this project

*Disclaimer (the actors in the $10 Pig Lady video above are not the actors in the final cast.  They are Steve's brother Jared and his lovely girlfriend Ashley who also happens to be a very talented wedding photographer and lent us the camera for this shoot.  Check out her work at http://ashleyclaytonphotography.com/index2.php)

What is Pig Lady?

Good question.

Pig Lady is based on a New Jersey urban legend of the same name. It's a live action horror/comedy about a teenage guy who tries to impress a girl by agreeing to face down the Pig Lady – an axe wielding humanoid pig creature. All hell breaks loose when they discover that the legend actually exists.

There are a few twists and turns in this short so we’d prefer not to give too much more away.

What are you going to use the funding for?

We mainly need your help to pay for special effects.

Although Pig Lady is a genre short we want it too look as naturalistic as possible.  In order to accomplish this we’ll need the help of some very talented visual effects artists.

We are hiring Brian Schuley of GZFX to help us set a car on fire during the fight against the Pig Lady.  Brian is giving us a great price since we are an indie project, but as you can imagine, safely setting things on fire isn’t cheap.

http://www.gzfxandstunts.com/default.htm

We are also working with Jeremy Selenfriend of Monster in my Closet.  He is making the Pig Lady mask and helping us (realistically) chop some heads off.

Some of the funding will also go towards paying and feeding our crew while on location in New Jersey.

We are self-financing the bulk of this production so we need all the help we can get so feel free to help us meet and exceed our goal of $7,500.  The more support we get from all of you will lead to an even better final product.

When will this thing be done?

We are shooting Pig Lady in New Jersey over 4 nights in September.  We will immediately begin editing it to submit a rough cut in time for Sundance’s submission deadline.  Steve and Tom are very experienced editors and can have a rough completed in time.

Every shot and all coverage is being storyboarded by Neil Dmonte (the guy who drew our profile image and concept boards from the video) in advance so there will be no time wasted in production or post production.

The finished product will be ready by mid-late October.  Just in time for Halloween.

Any cool incentives for donating?

Yes, there are many.  Some of our favorites are a hilarious and twisted triptych of the Pig Lady origin story hand drawn and painted by Sanjay Raju.  You can see more of his work at http://bananakitchen.blogspot.com/

If you are feeling particularly generous, and want something awesome/weird to hang on your walls, we suggest the lithograph of the El Fuego bottle logo drawn by famed tattoo artist Dan Santoro and designed by Jeff Ogiba proprietor of Black Gold, the only store we know where you can buy records, antiques and coffee.  Check it out:
