A Tribute concert to Jascha Heifetz featuring his students Ayke Agus and Yukiko Kurakata and cellist Amos Yang from the SF Sympnony.
On June 9th The De Anza Chamber Orchestra will present a Tribute Concert to the great violinist Jascha Heifetz. We are celebrating the life and artistry of Mr. Heifetz by featuring two of his very best students - one of which was also his accompanist for 15 years. Ayke Agus will perform the Bach Double Concerto in d minor with San Francisco Symphony, Violinist, Yukiko Kurakata, who was also a student and teaching assistant of Mr. Heifetz. On the second half of the concert Ayke will switch to piano and associate principal cellist of the San Francisco Symphony Amos Yang will join Ayke and Yukiko in a performance of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto. Baritone Jeffey Fields will join the orchestra for the devastatingly beautiful Kindertotenlieder of Gustav Mahler.
