What's the latest on the iPad 2 writer?

Now updated since may why have you gone quite, I'm still waiting for my iPad 2 case. 4 months!!!!!!

Really disappointed. I just got my Writer in the mail today, and I can't get the battery cap off. Everything else looks and feels great, but none of that matters if I can't even turn it on. Hoping to get a replacement or some sort of fix for it.

Upsides of this funding experience: Writer is slick! Usability is living up to my expectations. Folio and keyboard look better than anything else on the market, and the whole rig is very portable. I was impressed, also, when Adonit responded right away to a technical problem I was having with the keyboard.

Downsides: Took much longer than expected to get my Writer, which I really needed during the lengthy wait between funding and delivery. There was no way anyone could have foreseen the the Japanese earthquake/tsunami disaster (which apparently has had a big impact on Asian manufacturing capacity). But the Chinese New Year work slowdown is a well-known event, one that Adonit could have planned for in setting expectations with backers.

All that said, I believe anyone backing a project like this one -- a new product from a small company -- needs to accept some degree of "early adopter" risk. If it seems that Adonit is learning from its experience delivering Writer, I'll happily back or purchase future Adonit products that meet my needs.

this process has been very disappointing. I have invested in other projects and have had a much better experience. It has taken so long to get this I had to buy a different keyboard in the mean time. Won't be investing in future projects by Adonit.

The keyboard is great and like how easy it is to remove from the case. Impressed with the packaging as it will make a good way to store it when not in use.

I would have liked another bend in the material under the keyboard. This would allow it to neatly cover most of the keyboard if i want to hold it like a book to read. I have been using it for college and go rapidly between keyboard use, reading an article and then back to typing.

I have been using my Writer for 4 days now. I do like the feel and function. Nice job Adonit.

You guys totally delivered.
The packaging is beautiful and the product is amazing.

Good for you Uncle GroOve. I asked the question if there were going to be any notifications of shipping and never got an answer. Must be too busy shipping. I am glad to see some of the people who made this possible get what they ordered. I am sure after all my asking mine will be the last one shipped and it will come by mule I am sure. Uncle GroOve be sure and let us know how you like your new Writer. ;-)

As of April 28' 2011 there is no sign of the original Writer for the people who paid their money on Feb. 3,2011. Now some writers MAY be put up for sale at the same time the people who made this WHOLE THING possible are still waiting? YOUR KIDDING , RIGHT?

How can we get an original writer if we were not part of the pledge group? Just found the product today...

Are there any more updates? A shipping date? It's been two and a half months with little information other than there have been delays. After two weeks since the last update there should be an idea about when production will resume and in what quantities.

Last update....

"We have successfully fulfilled all of our Night Writer orders and have advanced to filling orders for Executive Writer. The consumers that have received their Writer have given us some great feedback."

Cool.....wish I was one of these people instead I am one who has not received my writer.

I was wondering the same thing as you Nicholas. I have been waiting on my original Writer for weeks now. For those of us who ordered the original writer and paid our money to get things started are still waiting. When will we get ours? ;-)

Have you scheduled or started production on the Ipad2 models? I switched my order (thanks) to the ipad2 version as soon as you offered it about a month ago. I can tell the whole schedule is difficult to manage due to Japan, etc, but just round numbers of weeks before shipping would be appreciated on a Night Writer for Ipad2.....

Just wondering when uk orders will be filled & will we receive an email notification of the writer being shipped?

Patiently waiting for my case. All I have seen sonar is a promise. The was no such delay in taking my money on time so why are we still waiting. You only get one chance to make a first impression and I must say, "THIS IS NOT A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION".

I would be hard pressed to buy from this company again or to recommend your products. Customer service will make or break a company.

can you please provide a more specific time when the Executive Writers will be shipped, this process has taken quite a long time and your updates keep promising "soon".

Just wanted to drop by and say thanks to the Adonit team for their thoroughness & thoughtfulness.

I live in Tokyo / Japan and along with everyone else experienced the unprecedented earthquake and watched in sadness the tragedy that unfolded from there on. Next morning I had an email from an Adonit staff asking how we're doing and wishing us the best in these difficult times. I can't tell you how moved I was with this message. I don't see this level of customer focus from many larger companies I do business with.

Yup I'd like an iPad 2 version instead of v1

Surely you guys need to make an official announcement regarding existing pledges and iPad 2. You're releasing your iPad 1 compatible case around the same weeks of the iPad 2 launch! I personally want to keep my pledge until an iPad 2 version of your case comes out otherwise I would like to retract it as I will no longer have any use for it.

Same question. This whole process has taken so long that my $200 investment looks foolish unless you let us roll it over to an Ipad 2 case. Please confirm.

Any update on availability? This is by far the best looking keyboard case I have seen. The size and weight beat anything else out there hands down. It also looks very secure and adjustable. I would have pledged if I had discovered you in time. I will buy it the second it is released!

I should first say that I really like your product and if I had an iPad I would buy one. But as I don't I will instead recommend it to others who do.

I've dreamt of such attachments myself, but I envisioned an additional battery and speakers, with the keyboard situated below that, making the attachment the same size as the iPad. This would make the iPad louder so much better for viewing movies as well as increased battery life, and your stand design already creates the perfect viewing angle. However it would be somewhat heavier than your product. I would love it if you made one for me though!

You guys should have added padding on the part that creases when it shuts on the inside. That way your hands get padding when typing and also it looks symmetrical when you shut it closed. Just a thought. Nice case though looks really nice.
