Update #3: Daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!
I am truly touched by this monumental achievement that we've made. I, on behalf of the New York Compost Company, thank you so much for your pledge. You are one of a small handful of people to help launch a rebellion against the pervasive paradigm of wastefulness in New York City. You should pat yourself on the back.
I'll wait...
....
Okay, back to business.
As our Kickstarter Campaign comes to its official close, we will definitely be in touch with you regarding the fulfillment of your participation reward. However, whatever reward we give you will not truly express the gratitude that we'd like to express to you.
I'd also like to bring to your attention that we are constantly hurdling obstacles as we approach the launch of this program, . Many of them are legal and bureaucratic obstacles set up to deal with trade waste collection and the economics of trash. For example, for us to pick-up from restaurants, we are required by law to obtain NY City and State licensing costs which, at the moment, total over $25,000. If a small company, like the New York Compost Company, wants to do their part by creating a sustainable business that diverts soil nutrients from the waste stream, how are they supposed to get off the ground with so much demand for capital?
We are always seeking help in surmounting these stumbling blocks; so, if you have any knowledge or connection to a legal/political specialist in this arena, please contact us at info@newyorkcompost.com.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you,

Update #2: Last week!!!
Actually, last 9 days... but HOLY CRAP! We're almost there!
We've got 9 days to raise the remaining $2,000. Thank you so much for your pledge.
Please continue supporting this project by telling your friends and families about our project.
Additionally, I'd like to let you know that since we've posted this campaign, the New York Compost Company has grown by two legal experts, a design expert, one urban farm, and a couple of restaurants.
If you'd like any more information on what we're doing, or you think that you have a special skill that you'd like to lend to the NYCC, please contact us at info@newyorkcompost.com.
We are so excited to see how this last week turns out. Post the link on your facebook walls and your twitter feeds.
You're the best, baby!

To all of our backers and non-backers,
Thank you so much for participating with us thus far. We've already been covered by big green blogs like Inhabitat and Treehugger, as well as with smaller local blogs like BikeBlogNYC.
Just today, we took a look at our prototype bicycle It's awesome. Hopefully very soon we'll be street-bound.
I also have some good news for you...you're going to get some pretty cool give-backs if we reach our goal:
If you have given over $25, you can expect a free item (excluding alcohol) at one of the following eating establishments:
Rice NY
Rockaway Taco
Jack's Coffee
People's Pops in Chelsea Market
Red Jacket Orchards
Additionally, if you gave at least $75, your Urban Farm Tour will take place at Brooklyn Grange, an urban rooftop farms in Queens.
We will be adding more participating restaurants and farms as our Kickstarter progresses. But for now, we need your help to keep spreading the word.
We thank you oh so much for your support. Let's keep it going.

The city council is funding a pilot program to collect food scraps from residents I think with GrowNYC as the partner. Perhaps you can contact them (I find them at Grand Army Plaza Saturday Farmer's Market as well as the Fort Greene Farmers Market) and work under their umbrella, saving you the cost of the licence.
