What you want to do / What the money is for:
Redesign Jeepneys to open up into a mobile outdoor school. Equip this with netbooks, project materials, and access to the internet Provide teacher support and professional development opportunities Reach a community of schools consistently through the school year Employ parents and allow teachers to eventually own the JeepNeeds in 1.5 years Drive around, do really cool hands on activities, and watch students build projects that change the world
(anything in excess of the funding goal will be put towards the third JeepNeed)
How you plan to do it: With our awesome on the ground partners: Chips Guevarra our alternative energy guru Alan Landa our electrical engineer and Solar Panel magnifico Uno Pio De Roda graphic designer Pepe Diokno video editor Kaloy Sonco Director
Input on the curriculum via experienced teachers in hands on activities and project based learning. The wonderful Exploratorium Teacher's Institute, and the National Community Science Workshops to name a few.
Erika and I are sheer woman power, using our experience in schools and social enterprises to build this project

I did a small scale research project with the Weed Fellowship that framed the way i thought about education last summer. I interviewed students who lived below the poverty line and made it to college. They were creative, resilient, and powerful. JeepNeed is an attempt at embodying all the factors that helped these students succeed.
My project partner Erika Pineda is a wonderful woman. I don't know where this project would be without her.
