Earth at an unspecified point in the not so distant future. Life takes place in a grey, filthy concrete world. Violence, poverty, and homelessness are ubiquitous. Extreme UV rays and toxic smog make daytime living dangerous and possible only for the elite. This upper class, able to protect themselves from the harsh sun and smog of daylight hours, are called the Daywalkers. Meanwhile, the less fortunate Level Twos exist in subterranean government ghettos, little more than windowless concrete cubicles buried beneath the old abandoned cities. The lowest class, without protection from the unlivable environment, has reverted to packs of sun-blinded “Nightcrawlers,” only coming out after dusk to tear apart anything they can lay their hands on. Caught between these two worlds, Lala, a fragile yet tenacious young woman, is fighting for survival. She must make the ultimate sacrifice to undertake a dangerous journey in search of her last hope: a legendary land at the edge of the earth, a land where trees may still grow and rain does not burn: The Last Eden.

We began Dirt [contained] Theatre Company with hopes of tackling socially inclusive, groundbreaking, environmental theatre.
The Last Eden is a project with two goals:
First, we want to create an innovative, multi-sensory experience that stimulates young audiences to redefine the "theatrical event". Since Tana and I created created Dirt [contained] Theatre Company in 2010, we've assembled an amazing group of young artists who intend on doing just that...
We are artists from all backgrounds: actors, directors, managers, designers, musicians, and technicians, collaborating to create a piece of theatre for non-theatre goers. We challenge ourselves to create new and exiting ways to combine medias to bring our stories to life. The Last Eden is our most ambitious project yet, incorporating a visually stunning costume and set design by Miriam Davies, a cinematic score performed live on stage by local musician/composer Thomas Ashbrook, and our company's first foray into the groundbreaking possibilities of theatre AV, designed by Joss Sessions. Your pledges will help us to create a set and costumes that will support the work of our actors in their development of an exciting new piece of writing. Your support will also help us to pay for our amazing venue (The Kazimier) and for the marketing of our show.
As is often the case with a group of young idealistic artists, everyone in the project is working for free (Because we love what we do and we care about this amazing piece of work!) But with your help, we’d at least like to help our actors and artists to pay for accommodation and living expenses during the project. It's one small step towards our goal of creating sustainable work for young artists.
Secondly, and closest to our hearts, The Last Eden is a piece of theatre that confronts the frightening future that our generation faces in the wake of global warming, pollution, and the destruction of the planet. By backing this project, you’ll be helping us to communicate a story that challenges audiences to consider the future as a changeable circumstance brought about by the decisions we make every day. By supporting our work, you’re supporting the future of a company of artists who believe that storytellers have the power to change the world. This is only the beginning...by helping us to launch a successful premier of our work here in Liverpool, you'll be helping us to generate the support to expand the production, and hopefully, to tour with our message of environmental action in the coming year. We believe in instigating change from the ground up… so whether it’s one dollar or one hundred, your help will make a difference!
There are more ways to help… Forward this link to your own networks. ‘Like’ our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter or join our mailing list on our website. Help us spread the word!
Thank you from the cast and crew of The Last Eden!

This is just the beginning for The Last Eden... Any pledges we may make over the $2000 mark will bring us one step closer to our goal of touring Eden across the UK (and hopefully back home to the states!)
