A Photobook following the footsteps of the first to reach North Africas highest mountain in 1923. captured with cameras from the 1920s
Thanks to everyone who has supported our project so far!
Any further pledges that we receive will go towards producing a set of 10 prints which are to be displayed at a variety of small galleries who we are currently in talks with. Everyone who has pledged will be invited to come to the private views of all of our shows.
We plan to reach the Summit of North Africa’s highest peak (Toubkal) in early January 2013. We are following the same route that the first pioneers Segonzac, Berger and Dolbeau took in 1923, 90 years on from the first summit we will be photographing the trip using photographic processes and cameras from the 1920’s alongside the latest digital video equipment to document the trip. We aim to create an authentic and timeless body of work that bridges the gap between the early pioneers and modern day mountaineering, creating a book, a series of exhibitions and a collection of talks.
Leaving on the 8th of January we aim to have reached the summit of Jbel Toubkal within 5 days, leaving the rest of the trip to explore other peaks including the second highest summit ‘Ouankrim’ the surrounding valleys and mountain villages.
Today we are pitching to Kickstarter as we need your help and support to subsidise the costs of our film and film processing costs for our project.
We like to think it is reasonable price to pay to support a great project and to own a limited edition image from our photographic exploration of the Atlas mountains.
We really appreciate any support and are so thankful to those who donate.

Our main potential set back with this photo book is the completion of the ascent, whilst we have both climbed to high altitudes neither of us have ever broken the 4000m mark. These heights can cause altitude sickness however we feel we are both capable of completing the ascent even if, worst case scenario, we suffer from the heights. Besides we have a good stretch of time to slowly adjust to the altitudes.
