Update #2: Keeping Positive
Dear All,
After a great first few days, we have yet to find another backer! Alas.
That being said, I'm extremely happy to be putting this listing up on Kickstarter and I hope that I can generate a bit more traffic to it.
I know that if we get a chance to do this project, it's going to be killer awesome. That being said, there's a Hebrew concept that I think about pretty often in relation to this called Dayenu.
Dayenu essentially means, it would have been enough. It's sung during a Passover service and it refers to items like "if you had taken us to the desert, and not delivered us to Israel, it would have been enough."
I feel the same way about this project:
If you had let me write the pilot, and had not gotten me the contacts to make a trailer...
If you had let me film the trailer, and had not let me correct all the sound in post...
If you had helped me find a loan, and had not let me pay it off (last payment is this month!)...
it would have been enough.
So, I hope that the project gets funded through Kickstarter and that we can go to town on it. But if it doesn't happen, it still would have been enough :). This project has been great, so thank you to everybody who even takes a glance at it!
Sincerely,
Bryan
Update #1: Telling Stories
We’ve been up for two days and we’re extremely grateful to have already received two backers! Limitless thanks, of course :).
My girlfriend and I were hosting a party last night, and our friend Joe asked us why he should donate. I think that the best reason I came up with was that there are so many coffee shop stories both comic and tragic to tell. Getting to tell those stories in our own sort of way would be a dream come true. Here’s one of those stories.
Jack was a shift supervisor from New York who’d recently moved to Chicago. A tough ex-navy guy, he was not prone to take any crap from anybody. He began working at the Wrigleyville store right near Wrigley Field, which is a mix of crazy and cool, depending on how well the Cubs are doing. Jack enjoyed some of the customers and hated others, but one person he couldn’t stand to be with was his co-worker Kim. Another tough cookie, Kim didn’t put up with shit either. Jack couldn’t stand taking any orders from Kim and vice versa. They were cool with each other outside of the store, but working together was not a viable option. Jack transferred to another store and shortly after, the two of them began to date.
Amy and I were fortunate enough to be at their wedding two years ago. They just had their first child, Robbie who is ridiculously adorable in pictures with their cat :).
Can't wait to tell some more stories these next couple of months and beyond!
Sincerely,
Bryan
