Danyavaad & The Shimmy Sisters have been on a nomadic journey through the soul and need your help to produce the next album "Nine Levels of Bliss". Our goal is to produce our album and merchandise (posters, t-shirts, stickers, buttons, rub-on tattoos, 16-page press kit) and take it on tour!
Danyavaad & The Shimmy Sisters is a five piece gypsy / bellydance / rock band and performance artists based out of San Diego, Calif. In the six years we've been together we have released a two disc CD/DVD "March of the Gypsies" (listen), was nominated Best World Artist and Album in the San Diego Music Awards, been praised on America's Got Talent (video), and performed throughout California, Nevada, Texas, Florida and Mexico. We've contributed to the experience of Wanderlust, Burning Man, EarthDance, and various belly dance festivals. This is just the beginning of sharing our artful spirit with each other and you.
“Nine Levels Of Bliss” is a poetic journey through mythology, magic, shamanism, and self discovery. In addition to English, there are also lyrics in Hungarian and Farzi. The album will be more musically diverse than “March of the Gypsies.” In addition to the electric sitar, bass, and percussion found on their first album, this effort will feature Saz and Cumbus Guitar (both from Turkey), Sueng (from Thailand), mandolin, violin, accordion, and more electronic sounds.

Danyavaad creates an atmosphere of Middle Eastern lounge mixed with Indian and Rock.The unique, multilingual, original songs of Danyavaad are performed by vocalist/ electric sitarist Greg Vaughan, tribal drummer Gabriel Penix and DJ/Bassist Sandy Bagri. Various ethnic instruments such as electric sitar, dumbeks, zils, chimes, and others add to the musical expanse. Danyavaad means "thank you" in Hindi.
The Shimmy Sisters are not your ordinary Belly Dancers! They are an Authentic Middle Eastern Duo with an eclectic twist (Yes, they really are sisters!) Extraordinary talented, reliable, dedicated, athletic and always classy dancers. Sword Performers, Hoop Dancers, Snake Charmers, Wing Dancers, Fire Performers, Glow (LED) Toys, and Instructors (yoga, hoop & belly dance). "Our dance style holds true to the essence of belly dance, but just as there are many sides to every person, there are many sides to our art."
