Vincent Ward: Destinies Lost and Found
A solo exhibition at the Shanghai Biennale, October 2012
ROBIN WILLIAMS JOINS WITH A VIDEO ENDORSEMENT - SEE ABOVE
Vincent Ward is an award-winning New Zealand artist, filmmaker, writer and director. He is one of only three artists to be offered a solo pavilion show at the prestigious Shanghai Biennale in China, and the first ever New Zealand artist to be invited to show there. His exhibition, Auckland Station: Destinies Lost and Found will run for three months in an historic cathedral.
Hear what some of Vincent's project supporters have to say above...
This year Vincent has exhibited as a solo artist in three major exhibitions, and produced a book. His films have gained international critical acclaim with What Dreams May Come, starring Robin Williams, winning an Academy Award for its ground-breaking motion painting aesthetic. He has been described as “a true visionary” by US film critic Roger Ebert and “one of film’s great image makers” by the Boston Globe.

Vincent’s work explores human fragility in a world that is becoming increasingly less sustainable. The Biennale will engender widespread discussion around energy and resource use. For Vincent, who has taken three years out of his film career to dedicate himself to this project, it is a major coup to be a part of this debate. His art works on a deeply personal and visceral level, and he has invested and exhausted substantial personal savings into developing the work. Now, as he is poised to take the work to a massive international audience, he is in urgent need of support.

As a large component of the work is digital, there are ongoing costs right up to installation, as well as printing 8 metre high painted works. We will use the Kickstarter pledges to complete the artwork and fund any additional shipping and installation.
ArtWard Trust Collective is asking you to pledge $35,000 although we estimate the total cost of mounting the exhibition will be in excess of $100,000 - so if we do reach our goal, please keep pledging! All moneys received will be used directly on this project.
Many thanks, the ArtWard Trust Collective.
