A Cautionary Tail is an animated short film starring Cate Blanchett, David Wenham and Barry Otto. Directed by Simon Rippingale, the film is based on a children's story by writer Erica Harrison.

Through a collage of 3D animated characters and hand-made miniature sets, we follow the story of a girl born with a tail that expresses her emotions. A dark, funny fable about learning to treasure the things that make us unique, the film is animated by world-class CGI artists and features an original score by Michael Yezerski, composer for the Academy Award-winning short, The Lost Thing.

Everyone working on A Cautionary Tail has sacrificed something to make this film possible, but we need to raise funds to finish the animation, lighting, compositing and post production. Before our campaign began, we'd raised enough money to make a trailer, which you can view on our website. Now we're hoping you'll get involved to help us finish the 13-minute film.

ARE WE 100% FUNDED? NO, NOT YET!

Our initial target of $40,000 has funded animation production, which was the first goal we were hoping to achieve with the support of the Kickstarter community. We now need to raise another 40K to fund lighting, compositing and the final stages of post production.

To show our gratitude, the first 1,000 supporters to donate will have their names added to our limited-edition poster, which will be available for download online.

We've already been blown away by the generosity of the online creative community and by the positive feedback the film has received so far. With your continued support, we hope as many people as possible from all over the world will see A Cautionary Tail!
