About this project
In 2008, Seth Skundrick, co-owner and executive producer of New Animal, created a small collection of images to serve as the company’s graphic identity/brand and to communicate - in a single image - the company’s mission: to assemble images and sounds in new, insightful and entertaining ways. The images, themselves, are assemblages, a riff on the exquisite corpse tradition, composed from hundreds of animal and landscape etchings from the 19th century.
For the past couple of years, the stable of New Animals has lived on our website, a few mugs, and some business cards. And, a funny thing has happened… the New Animals have developed lives of their own. No matter where we go, upon whipping out our business cards, people react with excitement. They want to know if there are more New Animals, if they can have their very own, and more.
We invite the Kickstarter community to contribute ideas and funding to the development of a series of animated shorts that observe the New Animals in their habitats and reveal a bit of their mystery.
