2005. I saw a presentation by an executive at work showing his trip to Bangalore, India. It was a mad mixture of the traditional and high tech. The techie and the photography geek in me was touched. I knew then I would have to make it to Bangalore one day. Whenever I've shared this dream with people they always tell me that they would love to see India through my lenses.

2010. I was presented with an opportunity to travel to India. I jumped immediately! This October, I will have five days with which to do nothing else but wander through Bangalore and shoot.

In the five years since the initial thought was birthed, I'm happy to have been able to shoot my Seattle. I am ready to be able to share Bengaluru with you the way I see it.

The tickets are booked, the passport is in hand, I'm studying up, and I am almost ready to shoot! That's where you come in.

I'm grateful to have had people purchase my prints, to have been published here and there, and to have made a few short run books over the years. I am very much looking forward to capturing the life and colour of Bengaluru, India, and presenting it to you!

The money I am asking for will be used for a variety of needs in order to capture and produce the work, some of which includes:


  • film. i shoot with a bevy of 35mm, 120, and various polaroid, discontinued and current. Pictured is an example of my regalia. Yes, i really do use *all* of those, and am crazy enough to bring all of them along.

  • it's digital equivalent -- memory cards. :)

  • development of colour work -- i will be developing my own black and white work.

  • production of the work. Some of the backer gifts include prints, as well as a choice of (early access to) one of two editions of a travel photography book that will be produced in late 2010/early 2011: a 7x7 (18x18cm) (both soft and hardcover available), and a large 13x11 (33x28cm) hardcover version of the book.
