• Why Kickstarter?

  Printing requires large minimum quantity.  Because its a calendar we only have 1 month to sell it before the new year starts.  We decided to use Kickstarter to gauge user interest before printing the calendar since we have to print at least 1000 copies.  Also we like that you can make a cool video to explain the project

• Why is the calendar $40?

  The designer, Alex, came up with a unique way to print & bound the calendar.  Each page is printed as  a centerfold then mounted to a board.  This allows each month to be displayed like a centerfold as opposed to a top/bottom layout like a conventional calendar.  This method is a lot more expensive than conventional calendars which are split in half & bound with a plastic or wire spiral.  There's also some additional touches like foil stamps which adds to the cost.

• Why Cat Club?

  We are mainly a fashion brand.  Our core products are womens clothing.  But we are also artists & we like to do creative stuff that's not making clothes.  We thought this project should be separate from our clothing line so we called it Cat Club to differentiate it from our core business.  Also, if we see that people truly like these cats, we can make other products down the road

• How will you use the funding?

  We set the funding goal to break even on the printing costs.  We weren't planning to make anymore calendars after 2011 edition, but we get so many requests.  At the same time, it's a lot of work to plan and produce this type of project.   We want to make sure people actually want these calendars and not just saying they do.
