Update #17: Happy Cesar Chavez Day!

Posted on March 31

Today, as we observe the California State Holiday in honor of Cesar Chavez, and on what would have been Cesar's 85th birthday, we are happy to report that post production on Cesar's Last Fast is well underway.

Here’s a little sneak preview of what we’ve been up to:

Our intrepid associate producer, Erika Hoyle, has helped us identify and catalog more than 300 hours of archival footage. That footage, along with the footage we’ve been shooting over the past 4 years, is being managed by Adi Cabigting, our whip smart assistant editor.

We are now reviewing the full collection to carefully construct our story and bring us to a rough cut of Cesar's Last Fast by mid-summer.

There's no question that we are here because of your enthusiasm and support.

We are deeply grateful and honored to have you alongside us as we move toward the completion of this  film.

Happy Cesar Chavez Day!

Si Se Puede,

Thank you,
Rick Perez and Molly O'Brien

Update #16: We did it!

Posted on November 22, 2011

We did it!

You should have heard the cheers around Cesar’s Last Fast HQ earlier today. I am just thrilled to report that the Cesar's Last Fast Kickstarter campaign reached its goal -- plus an extra dollar -- just before noon today! $21,000 in 58 days! It was a wild ride, but we’re there! In fact, we’re still climbing! As of right now, we’re at $21,101.

This film has been a labor of love for four years, and with this funding in place I am confident that we will be conducting screenings of the finished film well before the end of 2012.  Your backing of the project will play a critical part in the film's completion, and we’re all very grateful for your donation and your support. We couldn't have done it without you.

For our American backers, I hope you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Update #15: 95% Funded!

Posted on November 21, 2011

First, welcome and hello to all of our new backers in the past day! Thank you so much for your support!

In the past 24 hours, we’ve gone from $2,720 left to raise down to $865. That's 95% funded! We’re honored, humbled, thrilled, and so, so, so happy! Success is within reach, and it’s so close at hand – even with two whole days left to go.

We’re all nervously and excitedly emailing and calling everyone we know to ask them to help us reach our goal. You’ve already invested (thank you!), but we'd like to ask you to help us get from 95% to 100%

Here are three easy ways to help us reach our goal by tomorrow:

  • Email a friend and ask them to join you as a backer.
  • Visit the Cesar’s Last Fast page on Facebook and share our status updates on your own page.
  • Consider adding a $5 increase to your existing Kickstarter donation.

One, all, or any of these would help us spread the word and help get this campaign wrapped, the film finished, and get it out in the world to inspire and motivate a whole new generation of social justice activists.

Update #14: 3 Days!

Posted on November 20, 2011

Three days left! As of right now, we're down to $2,720 left to raise in our Kickstarter campaign. Our faith that we'll meet this goal is much bigger than our fear that we won't make it. We KNOW we can get there! Tonight we're at the beautiful Mayahuel Restaurant in Sacramento, CA, at a tequila tasting and fundraiser in support of the film. Our hosts are a lovely and dedicated duo, Oscar and Adelita, and we're looking to make a huge dent in our goal over the next few hours.

In the meantime, please keep forwarding our campaign to your networks. In these final few days, those Facebook posts and emails make all the difference in the world.

Update #13: 5 Days To Go!

Posted on November 18, 2011
Good morning wonderful Kickstarter donors, Welcome to all of our new backers! We've made great strides in the last few days, and we're so excited to announce that Cesar's Last Fast has just $3,750 left to raise. Even with just 5 days left in our campaign, we KNOW we're going to get there.

If you've been forwarding our campaign to all your friends, thank you and please keep on spreading that word! Post our campaign to your social media accounts - Facebook, Twitter, Google +, and wherever else you spend time online.

Another concrete thing you can do to help is to email 5 friends and share the film with them - let them know that you're a backer and you think they'd like to get behind the film as well.

As you can see from the graph at the bottom of this post we're SO CLOSE but still so far from our $21,000 goal. Remember this is an ALL OR NOTHING campaign, meaning we don't get any of the money raised unless we reach our goal of $21,000.

You can also share this great piece about the film by Latination. We love it, hope you do to.

We're heading upward - we know we can get there!
