About this project

Every artist has a process that brings them from the birth of an idea to the completion of a work. Many movement artists utilize objects as tools to inspire their movement, then later discard these objects and let the movement reign. Then there are those of us who start to see the object as a co-performer, as a friend, as a partner and sometimes as an enemy. This show celebrates those objects and the contribution they have brought to the creation of this series of performance-based works.

Object as Performer will be a two-night performance and gallery show in Brooklyn, NY with work by Rebecca Davis, Abigail Levine, Juri Onuki, The A.O. Movement Collective, Nina Schwanse and Felisia Tandiono.

As the curator of this show, I'm seeking support to pay the artists for their contribution, to acquire necessary event insurance, to hire a stage manager who will keep the show on task, and various other production-related costs. All of the funds will go directly back into the creation of this show.

We are creating a book that will collect essays on the topic of Object as Performer as well as photos from rehearsals and performances of the artists involved in the show. It will allow the audience to have a document that is more than just a catalog; it will provide scholarly insight into the creative process. This book can be yours at the $25 donation level.

**NEW UPDATE** All backers who pledge at the $25 level and higher will now receive a complimentary ticket to Object as Performer. $100 and up will now receive TWO tickets.**

Thank you so much for your support!

-Sarah Dahnke, curator of Object as Performer

  • If we reach our Kickstarter goal, we will be able to offer tickets for less than $10 (the final budgeting is still being determined). Without this backing, tickets will cost $15-$20. CPR has limited capacity, so those donors who back at levels that include tickets will be guaranteed entry on the night or nights of their choosing.
