Update #5: Spring Fling Fundraiser Show

Posted on March 17
Much fun was had by all at last night's Spring Fling alumni fundraiser show!  We raised $500 and made lots of new friends! Special thanks to performers Wild Hearts, MJZ, Wayne Trowbridge, Ieyale Morris, Teri Walton, Michelle Shaffer,  Josh Johnston, Elijah Reed and Dakota Barker, as well as emcee Isiah Smith. Sound was provided by Uncle Mike Benkosky! We were also presented with an HP Quilt to raffle off courtesy of Martha Kistler and the Kansas Capitol Quilters Guild!  Thanks again, everyone!

Update #2: A bit o' news!

Posted on January 26

We're finishing up the first draft of the show we're taking to Scotland, You Don't Know Me... We'll be doing our first read-through next week. Of course the show's monologues and songs were all written by the kids, so they can take full credit for the creation of the show.

If I get feed-back in the affirmative, perhaps I could post either a snippet or two of some of the pieces, or maybe even the whole script when it's a bit more polished!

On a more serious note, we're really needing funding. I spoke with a rep from AHSTF today (American High School Theatre Festival), and while she was very supportive, she emphasized our need to get caught up in our payments (we're about two months behind), or we'd need to make some serious cuts in terms of how many students we can take. The Festival people have vendors that have to paid- theatre venues, housing, airfare, etc., and we aren't pulling our weight right now.

So: if anyone has some bright ideas funding-wise, or knows how to get the word out to more people, please let me know!!!!

Again, thank you for all your support, and know how much we appreciate you all!!!

-Scott

      Scott,

How bout your kids putting together a flash mob at the malls or some other places where people gather in numbers, and at the end, do a pitch for the Scotland gig, and pass the hat. This also would be a great story that the Capitol Journal or even the Kansas City Star might want to jump on for their arts section. Best, Jayne

Update #1: Check out our new commercial!! Cool, huh?!!

Scott Kickhaefer

Connected as Scott Kickhaefer (1234 friends)

My name's Scott Kickhaefer, and I teach Theatre and English at Highland Park High School. This project isn't about me- I'm just a guy who's trying hard to help his students take advantage of the chance of a lifetime. As I stated earlier in our story, our honor at being selected is only over-shadowed by the real threat of our not being able to come up the monetary wherewithal to take advantage of the opportunity... Any help you can give us, any at all, will mean the world to my kids. Thanks, in advance!.
