UPDATE: We've met our $2,500 and will be making a music video! Our new goal is $3,500 which will help fund my East Coast tour!

In short: My goal is to raise money to shoot a professional music video in support of my new single, "Odd Place To Be." The money will go towards props, sets, costumes, catering and equipment for the shoot, and the video will hopefully generate more buzz and album sales and allow for me to fund my first tour!

Hello, folks! I'm Holley Maher, and if you're reading this at this very moment, you are super-awesome. And if you've watched this video already, you've probably realized that "super-awesome" is apparently my favorite phrase.

I am SO excited to share my plans to make a music video with you via Kickstarter, and even MORE excited that you guys might to be a part of it! As an independent artist without a record label or a fairy godmother or a magic genie of any kind to fund my projects, your willingness to help means more than you can possibly know.

What do I want to do?

I want to make a music video for my debut single, "Odd Place To Be!" 

This past year, I was lucky enough to record my first EP (a short 5-song album) with Thomas Doeve of Paper Swan studios. He's a genius, and he's also worked with some other great local artist like Trent Dabbs, Katie Herzig, Andrew Belle, and Amy Stroup. I am so happy with how the album turned out!

As I mention in the video, "Odd Place To Be" is getting some great radio exposure and has been doing better than I could have ever imagined! I really want to take advantage of this exposure by creating a music video. Having a music video out would help out in a lot of ways, including:

- Allowing people to hear my song and watch a music video, which is the greatest way, I think, to get a quick feel for the artist, their style, and their personality. Hopefully, this will reflect in more exposure and will be a great way to connect with new fans!

- Hopefully after people watch the video, they'll really like it and go snag a copy of the album! This will help me fund my next album, my tour, and pay my rent.

- I'll get to frolick in a forrest with human-sized stuffed animals, which is something I've always wanted to do.

However, I've pretty much spent every penny to my name in order to record, print, and promote this album. That's why I'm here!

How do you plan to do it?

Awesomely.

No, but seriously. This is going to be an awesome video. 

Tyler and David, the two incredibly talented videographers who are Yeah Yeah Creative (www.yeahyeahcreative.com), approached me about a month ago saying that they really liked my stuff and wanted to donate their time and efforts to make me a music video. (They also shot my Kickstarter video!) I was stunnned, since I've always admired their work and had been dreaming of working with them! Of course, I said yes, and here we are.

We sat down over several coffee-and-brainstorming sessions and came up with what we think is a really fun concept for a music video. It's going to be visually stunning, charming, whimsical (of course), and incredibly odd. I couldn't be more excited to get started on it!

What specifically will we be spending the money on?

Well, while this concept is a really great one, it's also a slightly expensive one. We've tailored the concept to make sure that we're not going too overboard, but at the same time, we want it to really stand out and be something that people want to share with each other virally.

I mention in the video what we'll need, but it includes things like:

-Props

-A moving truck

-A power generator 

-A few furniture items

-Materials for sets and a stage

-Perhaps an actor or two

-Food for the cast and crew 

-Any permits we may need to obtain to shoot in our video in a public location

Those are the basics that we really need help with. Any more money that we make will go towards:

- Paying the videographers (they've very graciously offered to work for free, but I think they deserve something for all their hard work!)

- My next studio project, which I hope to start recording in the winter!

- Perhaps a tour, so I can come visit you lovely folks and play you some ditties. 

*Your donation will only be spent on things that directly benefit my music career! I will not spend it on shoes, clothes, records, or Swedish massages.

How does Kickstarter work?

I explain this a bit in the video, but here's the gist of it:

1. You watch my video.

2. You check out the sweet prizes you can get for donating, which vary depending on your donation amount.

3. I have 30 days to reach my goal of $2,500! If I don't reach my goal within 30 days, Kickstarter will refund your ENTIRE donation to you-- which means that I don't get any funding and I don't get to make a super-awesome music video. :(

4. However, if I reach my goal, you'll be seeing a super-awesome music video very soon! If I exceed it, you can count on even MORE awesome things to come, like a tour or a new record!
